Ethics as a compass
According to Dr. Vo Minh Thanh, Vice Principal of Buon Ma Thuot University of Medicine and Pharmacy, Director of Buon Ma Thuot University of Medicine and Pharmacy Hospital, training in medical ethics cannot wait until graduation, but must start in the classroom, from the smallest behaviors in communication between teachers and students, between students and patients during clinical practice.
Towards the development period 2025 - 2030, the school continues to affirm its core values with the motto: "Ethics - Capacity - Passion", in which "ethics" is always put first.

"No one accepts a doctor who is good at his profession but indifferent to the pain of his patients. The school's responsibility is to train well-rounded people, not only good at his profession, but also compassionate," Dr. Vo Minh Thanh emphasized.
To foster medical ethics in each student, Buon Ma Thuot University of Medicine and Pharmacy has proactively organized many humanitarian activities. Every year, students are encouraged and facilitated to participate in volunteer programs, blood donation, medical examination and treatment, and free medicine distribution in remote areas where medical services are still limited.
"Each trip is a great lesson. Difficult cases, difficult situations, grateful eyes of ethnic minorities... are all imprinted in the students' minds. That is the 'second lecture hall' - where they learn empathy, compassion and the spirit of unconditional service," Dr. Vo Minh Thanh shared.

"Not chasing after achievements or output quantity, the school chooses the path of sustainable development, which is "taking quality as the center, taking ethics as the root". This is the foundation for building a school that not only imparts knowledge but also nurtures the heart - the most valuable asset of medical professionals", shared Professor, Dr. Cao Tien Duc.
He believes that in the future, when environmental change, epidemics, and health inequality remain major challenges, the presence of a team of doctors, pharmacists, and nurses who graduated from this school will be a meaningful contribution to the community.
Ha Van Tu, a 5th year medical student, shared: "From the times I went to see patients in the poor commune of Krong Bong district, I felt like I had grown up a lot; I understood more about the responsibility of a doctor, not only to treat illnesses but also to take care of the mental health of the community."
Not simply a slogan, putting ethics first demonstrates the commitment of Buon Ma Thuot University of Medicine and Pharmacy in training talented and dedicated doctors, contributing to building a humane and sustainable healthcare system for the Central Highlands and the whole country.
