According to the report of the Ministry of Education and Training , as of May 31, 2025, 68.8% of preschool, general education, continuing education, vocational education - continuing education facilities have passed education quality accreditation; 65% of preschool, general education, continuing education facilities have met national standards.

Regarding higher education , 199 higher education institutions have been recognized to meet quality standards according to domestic standards, 15 higher education institutions have been externally assessed according to foreign standards; 871 training programs have been recognized to meet quality standards according to domestic standards and 692 training programs have been recognized to meet quality standards according to foreign standards.

The rate of kindergartens, primary schools, junior high schools, high schools, multi-level general schools, continuing education centers, and vocational education - continuing education centers meeting education quality accreditation standards for the 2024 - 2025 school year is higher than the previous school year.

In particular, the rate of continuing education centers and vocational education - continuing education centers in the 2023 - 2024 school year is still very low, but by the 2024 - 2025 school year, there has been a rapid increase (nearly doubled).

The rate of kindergartens and primary schools meeting national standards in the 2024-2025 school year also increased rapidly compared to the previous school year; in which the fastest increase was in high school (up 7.3%) and junior high school (up 6.5%).

The Ministry of Education and Training also said that in the 2024-2025 school year, Vietnam will actively participate in large-scale international student assessment programs such as PISA, TALIS, SEA-PLM and PASEC to help provide a database for assessing educational outcomes, proposing solutions to improve teaching and learning quality; at the same time, learning from international experiences in assessing educational quality, especially innovating in assessment techniques and methods, and introducing new approaches to teaching, learning, testing, examination and assessment.

The 2022 PISA national report was announced by the Ministry of Education and Training at a workshop on June 19, 2025, showing that Vietnam maintains a high ranking in the region, approaching the OECD average in all three subjects: Mathematics, Reading, and Science .

In 2025, Vietnam will conduct the first computer-based PISA 2025 survey with the participation of 195 schools and 7,353 students. The goal is to assess learning abilities in the areas of reading, mathematics and science, and develop students' thinking and problem-solving skills.

In addition to the achieved results, the self-assessment work in some educational institutions has not met the prescribed requirements, such as: not properly assessing the current situation, lacking evidence, and the improvement plan is not specific and feasible. Therefore, the self-assessment has not been fully effective and has not really contributed to improving the quality of teaching and learning in schools.

The external assessment team is unstable, has many concurrent positions, and has not spent much time carefully studying documents; and has not fully and effectively implemented quality improvement work after external assessment due to lack of monitoring and inspection.

Some educational institutions were assessed as failing the accreditation (including: 28 kindergartens, 41 primary schools, 13 secondary schools, 5 high schools and 8 multi-level general schools).
