On the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the founding of Vietnam News Agency (September 15, 1945 - September 15, 2025), Vietnam News Agency reporters in Hong Kong (China) interviewed dignitaries and representatives of overseas Vietnamese about the important role and stature of the national news agency, as well as their affection for many generations of reporters stationed here.
Mr. Ly Minh Han, a scholar who has devoted half of his life to his passion for researching the revolutionary career of President Ho Chi Minh and the country and people of Vietnam, shared that right after the Democratic Republic of Vietnam (now the Socialist Republic of Vietnam) was founded on September 2, 1945, President Ho Chi Minh directed the establishment of Vietnam News Agency (now Vietnam News Agency) as a national news agency, the official mouthpiece of the Party and the State. This was a major event, of extremely important significance and key in improving the effectiveness of propaganda work on the policies, guidelines and theories of the Vietnamese revolution.
Right from the early period of the Vietnamese revolution, President Ho Chi Minh was also very interested in propaganda work, orientation and guidance of revolutionary ideology for the masses. After establishing the Vietnam Revolutionary Youth Association in 1925, President Ho Chi Minh also founded the Thanh Nien newspaper, opening the way for the Vietnamese revolutionary press. Therefore, the birth of the Vietnam News Agency on September 15, 1945 was an inevitable historical event, contributing greatly to the victory of the Vietnamese revolution in the resistance wars for national independence, national unification, as well as building and defending the fatherland today.
Stemming from the respect for the role and stature of Vietnam News Agency, as well as the respect for President Ho Chi Minh and the affection for the country and people of Vietnam, Mr. Ly Minh Han has given generations of Vietnam News Agency reporters in Hong Kong a special affection and considered each other as family members for over the past two decades.
He often happily shared that at first I was considered a close brother to the reporters, then to the younger ones I was considered an uncle and nephew, and now I am an uncle and nephew. Accordingly, he believes that his decision to learn Vietnamese and spend time researching the revolutionary career of President Ho Chi Minh was extremely wise because through that he has deeply understood the revolutionary career and the country and people of Vietnam, at the same time contributing to the best of his ability to the development of the Vietnam-China friendship in general and the Vietnam-Hong Kong relationship in particular.
Mr. Ly Minh Han said that generations of Vietnam News Agency reporters in Hong Kong, in addition to being dedicated and making efforts to fulfill their assigned political tasks, need to actively study the aspirations of overseas Vietnamese, combine providing information and propagating to the Vietnamese community in Hong Kong and Macau about the Party and State's new guidelines, policies and regulations, support overseas Vietnamese to preserve and promote national cultural identity and increase their orientation towards their homeland.

Regarding this content, President of the Vietnamese Association in Hong Kong Doan Quynh Linh also emphasized that Vietnam News Agency with a system of 30 foreign permanent offices, located in most key locations in the world , will be an important connection between overseas Vietnamese and their homeland.
Ms. Doan Quynh Linh said that Vietnam News Agency reporters have always accompanied the Vietnamese community in Hong Kong in general and the social activities of the Vietnamese Association in Hong Kong in particular, from friendly football matches to film festivals with Vietnamese participation or volunteer activities for the community. In addition to domestic propaganda, Vietnam News Agency also conducts foreign propaganda in many languages, including Chinese and English, helping local readers understand more about Vietnam.
Similarly, Vice President of the Association of Overseas Vietnamese in Macau Dinh Thi Bich Ngoc said that over the years, the permanent offices of the Vietnam News Agency abroad have closely coordinated with the embassies, consulates general and representative agencies of Vietnam abroad in information work in the locality, as well as on the relationship between the locality and Vietnam.

Ms. Dinh Thi Bich Ngoc emphasized that the Vietnam News Agency's permanent office in Hong Kong has always accompanied the Vietnamese Association in Macau to promptly and clearly report on the activities of the Vietnamese community such as the celebrations of major national holidays, or activities organized and participated in by the association in Macau.
These have contributed to strengthening the connection and solidarity of the community with Vietnam, contributing to promoting the image of the country and people of Vietnam in the Macau special zone./.
