80 years of VNA: A living symbol of Vietnam-Cambodia solidarity

Vietnam News Agency (VNA) has always been considered an agency providing official and reliable information sources and an important bridge contributing to fostering the Vietnam-Cambodia friendship.

These are the assessments that many Cambodian officials, scholars and colleagues shared with VNA reporters in Phnom Penh, on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of VNA's Traditional Day (September 15, 1945 - September 15, 2025).

After 80 years of accompanying the cause of building, protecting and developing the country, VNA has affirmed its role as the main news source and a reliable "information bank" of Vietnam and international friends.

During this journey, VNA has closely connected with the land of pagodas, especially through its close relationship with the Cambodian News Agency (AKP).

In an interview with a VNA reporter in Phnom Penh, Honorary President of the King's Supreme Advisory Council and Honorary President of the Cambodian People's Party (CPP) Samdech Heng Samrin said that over the past 80 years, VNA has continuously developed, becoming a trusted and prestigious voice of Vietnam, making an important contribution to promoting, educating and connecting the Vietnamese people as well as international friends.

He emphasized: “In particular, the close, long-standing relationship between VNA and the Cambodian News Agency AKP has become a vivid symbol of the solidarity and traditional friendship between the people of our two countries.”

The CPP Honorary President expressed his belief that in the coming time, VNA will continue to develop more strongly, providing accurate and timely information to the public; at the same time, strengthen information cooperation with AKP, contributing to promoting and deepening the friendship and cooperation in all fields between Cambodia and Vietnam.

Sending congratulations to VNA on its 80th anniversary, Samdech Heng Samrin stated: "Wishing VNA to grow stronger and stronger, and continue to be the pride of the Vietnamese people!"

Dr. Eng Kok Thay - Secretary of State of the Office of the Cabinet of the Royal Government of Cambodia, political and historical analyst - also acknowledged and appreciated the great achievements that VNA has achieved in its 80-year development journey, as well as the results of cooperation with AKP - Cambodia's state news agency in the journey of nearly half a century.

In a recent exchange with VNA reporters in Phnom Penh, a senior Cambodian official believes that VNA will continue to reap many achievements, continue to spread accurate and positive information about the development process of the country and people of Vietnam, as well as convey information about the international community to the Vietnamese people.

The Secretary of State of the Office of the Cabinet of the Royal Government of Cambodia wished VNA "to continue to achieve greater achievements in its mission of information transmission in the new era of Vietnam, as well as the good cooperative relationship between VNA and AKP in the coming time"./.
