Proud to return to journalism in my hometown

When they knew I wanted to work for Quang Tri newspaper, many friends and colleagues asked why people wanted to go to the “livable city” but couldn’t, but I decided to return to my hometown. I just answered because my heart always yearned for my hometown, wanted to return to my hometown.

I came back to Quang Tri newspaper by chance. The Economic & Urban newspaper where I worked at that time (from 2018 to 2024) was twinned with Quang Tri newspaper. Many social charity programs were jointly organized by the two newspapers in Quang Tri and many times I was sent by the agency to participate. Even in natural disasters and floods, the agency also sent me to work. Being a Quang Tri native, when the agency sent me back to my hometown to work, I was always excited. A colleague jokingly said that if I returned to Quang Tri, it would be like "a fish in water". Indeed, everything went smoothly when I returned to my hometown because I received support and help from my colleagues.

Those business trips were an opportunity for me to meet and interact with the leaders of the Editorial Board and the colleagues at Quang Tri Newspaper. From then on, the relationship grew bigger and closer, helping me to be more confident in expressing my desire to join the newspaper.

In December 2023, I met Editor-in-Chief Truong Duc Minh Tu at the 25th anniversary of the publication of the first issue of Kinh te & Do thi newspaper in Hanoi . During the conversation, I boldly expressed my wish to return to my hometown to work and stabilize my family life, and Mr. Tu supported me. Continuing to receive support from the Editorial Board and the agency, I officially became a member of Quang Tri Newspaper from December 1, 2024.

To tell the truth, I have had a connection with Quang Tri newspaper since I was a student. At that time, I studied journalism at Hue University of Sciences, and in 2007 I was able to work at Quang Tri newspaper as an intern. The newspaper headquarters at that time was located at 26 Tran Hung Dao, and Hoang Tao (now working at Tuoi Tre newspaper) and I were guided by Mr. Le Minh.

The first article Tao and I wrote together was published in Quang Tri Newspaper, an example of a veteran who did well in business in Hai Lang. I remember that it was several months after we sent the article that we received the free newspaper and royalties. Back then, any journalism student who got a piece of news or article published would be proud, holding the newspaper and reading it over and over again without getting bored. As for royalties, we would invite our friends to have a party.

And it was also by chance that when I came to work at Quang Tri newspaper, I was assigned to the Readers - Social Work Department. When we met, Mr. Le Minh said: "It turns out that you and I have a connection." At Quang Tri newspaper, I received a lot of attention, support, help, sharing, and encouragement from the leaders of the Editorial Board, the leaders of the departments and colleagues to gradually get in the swing of things.

Editor-in-Chief Truong Duc Minh Tu, Deputy Editor-in-Chief Nguyen Ty, Deputy Editor-in-Chief Nguyen Chi Linh always gave me advice, guidance, and created favorable conditions to help me have my first articles published in the newspaper.

Mr. Ho Nguyen Kha added a topic in the last issue of the month so that I could work. Ms. Phan Hoai Huong kindly assigned me an interview with the Provincial Police Chief to be published in the 2025 New Year issue. The leaders of other departments were also very loving, guiding, and editing each news and article so that I could have complete works in tomorrow's issue...

The love and care from the agency has motivated me to complete my tasks. The news and articles with problems are gradually recognized, making me proud to be a member of Quang Tri Newspaper. My colleagues often say that the agency is a green roof.

I am always proud to live, to love, to share and to satisfy my passion for writing in the common home of Quang Tri journalism - my hometown!
