Not only focusing on drug addiction treatment, rehabilitation, and treatment for drug addicts, Phu Duc Drug Rehabilitation Center also always focuses on improving the environment and improving the quality of treatment for patients undergoing treatment and rehabilitation at the unit. With the motto: building a green, clean, and beautiful environment.

Mr. Hoang Lien Son - Director of Phu Duc Drug Rehabilitation Center said that since 2018, Phu Duc Drug Rehabilitation Center has started to build cultural accommodation in the student management areas, clean up the landscape in the campus to bring a new face, increase the aesthetics of the unit.

In the rooms and management areas of the academy, slogans are hung promoting civilized lifestyles and environmental protection combined with propaganda about the harmful effects of drugs and HIV/AIDS to remind students of responsibility and awareness.

Hygiene and order checks are also carried out regularly, through which everyone seriously and fully implements the criteria in maintaining a clean and safe environment.

In addition, to create an exciting atmosphere among all staff and workers, the "Green Sunday" activity was organized, the tree planting and waste treatment project attracted the participation of a large number of youth and students.

The facility also established the "Lighting Up Faith" club, attracting the participation of 55 students. It is a useful playground for students to exchange and learn, and develop their talents and strengths.

In addition, to improve health, physical and mental, all students are allowed to read books and newspapers in the library, sing karaoke, and exercise regularly. The student management areas are equipped with exercise equipment, and the dormitories are also equipped with televisions, DVD players, tape recorders, and K+ digital TV players for entertainment purposes and to help students easily update daily information.

Mr. Hoang Lien Son also shared that on holidays and Tet, the facility will organize cultural and sports activities. Recently, during the Lunar New Year of Quy Mao 2023, the facility organized Tet activities such as Tao Quan offering petitions, lion dance, learning about traditional Tet, writing parallel sentences, wall newspapers, painting, decorating rooms, writing articles for Phu Duc Niem Tin Magazine No. 25, collaborating with Phuong Nam Art Theater to perform art and circus performances, etc. and organizing football, volleyball, chess, making banh chung, decorating rooms, and the altar of the Fatherland in the student management area.

Regarding food care, special attention is always paid to the quality of each meal. On the occasion of Lunar New Year 2023, the food portion is increased by 0.5 times. In addition, the facility also organizes labor therapy, increases production, grows more green vegetables, raises fish, chickens, ducks, and pigs to help supplement the source of clean food for the unit, ensuring food safety and hygiene.

Along with that, the Board of Directors regularly directs specialized departments to closely inspect and monitor input food sources. The kitchen is kept clean and airy, and processing tools are carefully cleaned with cleaning solutions every day.

Legal propaganda for students.

Mr. Hoang Lien Son also added that the facility is currently managing 402 students with a large number of students, but all activities from reception, screening to assessment and classification are carried out in accordance with procedures and regulations.

According to the Decision of the Department of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs of Ho Chi Minh City on promulgating the Program "Specialized education for drug addicts", from 2022 the facility will carry out student education according to the "example" method, taking personality education with the motto "slow and steady wins the race".

Each student management area will also have a counseling room and a daily on-duty educator. Most of the counseling content will focus on issues that students are interested in, such as legal documents related to the drug addiction treatment process, visiting relatives, sending items on holidays, drug addiction treatment time according to the Court's decision, HIV/AIDS testing knowledge, health care, etc.

It is known that the facility has counseled 3,599 individual students and 2,796 group students and individually counseled 21 students, helping to relieve concerns, questions, worries and stabilize the psychology, contributing to adjusting the students' deviant and substandard behaviors, lifestyles and thoughts.

In particular, so that staff can promptly grasp the thoughts, aspirations and change the attitudes and behaviors of students, especially new students, the facility has implemented a Daytop meeting program at the student management area, carried out every evening (from 6:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.), from Monday to Friday every week.

Every week, the security guard and the education manager in charge of the student's room will meet with the students 5 times a week. Up to now, 471 Daytop meetings and small group activities have been held.

In addition to the above activities, the facility also organizes democratic voting so that the Board of Directors and leaders of departments and areas can promptly answer students' questions about health care, disease prevention, cultural studies, and policies related to daily life. Thereby helping students strengthen their confidence, stabilize their lives, have the motivation to strive to study and reform, shorten the time of drug addiction treatment and soon reintegrate into the community.
