On the afternoon of May 25, the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) held the draw ceremony for the 2024 AFC U23 Championship qualifying round in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
U23 Vietnam falls into an easy group in the 2024 U23 Asia qualifiers
According to the draw results, U23 Vietnam is in group C with Guam, Yemen and Singapore.
The opponents in this group are not too strong and coach Troussier and his team are completely capable of winning the top spot in the group.
In group H, U23 Thailand will face much more difficulties when facing the Philippines, Bangladesh and Malaysia.
Meanwhile, U23 Indonesia will face Turkmenistan and Chinese Taipei in the 2024 AFC U23 Championship qualifiers.
This stage is expected to take place from September 4 to September 12. The teams will compete in a round robin format.
The 11 group winners and the 5 best second-placed teams will qualify for the 2024 AFC U23 Championship next year.
The 2024 AFC U23 Championship is expected to take place from April 15 to May 3, 2024 in Qatar.
The 2024 U23 Asia is also the qualifying round for the 2024 Paris Olympics. The top 3 ranked teams will directly qualify for this tournament.
The fourth-placed team will have to play a play-off with an African representative for a play-off spot.
