The beauty of the seabed of Quang Ninh

Báo Quảng NinhBáo Quảng Ninh21/06/2023

The sea area of Quang Ninh, concentrated in the area of Ha Long Bay, Bai Tu Long Bay and Co To archipelago, has been surveyed and dived by scientists of the Institute of Marine Environment and Resources (Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology) for many years and is highly appreciated for the richness of coral reefs as well as the fish populations that develop in association with the coral reefs. The areas all have rare species, listed in the Vietnam Red Book. In particular, the coral reefs in Hong Van area (Co To) are very developed, once up to 3-4 km long and 1 km wide.

Affected by both natural and human factors, many coral reefs in Quang Ninh sea areas have been severely degraded in recent years. The good news is that through recent surveys, scientists have confirmed that many coral reefs have been and are in the recovery stage with many small coral colonies developing well.

Here are some pictures of the beauty of coral provided by a group of scientists from the Institute of Marine Environmental Resources:

Soft corals are diverse in color and shape, vivid and beautiful.
Corals look like small mushrooms.
Coral like a cluster of flowers with countless flowers swaying in the waves.
Along with soft corals there are many types of hard corals that also have unique beauty.
Quang Ninh's marine areas have rare coral species, listed in the Vietnam Red Book and on the way to recovery.
Fish living in coral reefs and seagrass beds are a group of fish that indicate the health of coral reefs, including many species such as butterfly fish, damselfish, wrasses, etc.
Branch corals are a rare group of species that grow rapidly but are very sensitive to adverse environmental factors.
