A survey of lottery ticket vendors in Can Tho showed that Tet is the busiest time of the year. Customers buy a lot, in large quantities, and spend extra money to get unique numbers, good numbers for good luck in the spring.
Ms. Cao Kim Cuc (57 years old, has been selling lottery tickets for 20 years) said that from December 25 to the 4th day of Tet, the number of lottery tickets she sold fluctuated between 500 and 600, earning more than half a million VND/day, double the usual amount.

"Tickets are expensive and sell out early. On New Year's Eve and the first day of Tet, lottery tickets sold out very early. By 9am, there was not a single ticket left. The next few days, I only went until 10am-11am and all the allocated tickets were sold out," Ms. Cuc said happily.
According to Ms. Cuc, the demand for lottery tickets during Tet is so strong that sellers only have lottery tickets for the next few days left, while the morning and afternoon lottery tickets are "sold out" early.
Mr. Nguyen Van Canh, a lottery ticket vendor in Ninh Kieu district, Can Tho, said that during Tet he sells 300-400 lottery tickets.
"At the beginning of the year, people buy a lot of lottery tickets to pray for luck or give them to others for good luck. Normally, if they buy 2-3 tickets, during Tet, people buy dozens of tickets and give them as lucky money to relatives and friends...", Mr. Canh said.
Speaking to Dan Tri reporter, Mr. Lam Minh Dao, General Director of Kien Giang Lottery Company Limited, said that the sales of lottery companies in the Southern region is 120 billion VND/ticket period. In these 4 spring periods alone, the number of tickets issued increased by 20 billion VND, with good consumption, nearly 100%, equivalent to the 2023 Tet holiday.

According to the report of Can Tho Lottery Company Limited, from January 1 to February 16 (the 7th day of Tet), the issuance revenue of this unit was 880 billion VND, sales revenue reached 100%, of which the prize payment cost was 401.3 billion VND, accounting for 45.60%.
Previously, at the end of December 2023, the Standing Committee of the Southern Lottery Council sent a dispatch to member lottery companies regarding the increase in sales of 4 ticket issuance periods for the Spring of Giap Thin 2024.
Accordingly, the company increases 1 period before Tet (from December 24 to 30) and increases 3 periods after Tet (from January 1 to 21).
