Acne is a common problem for each of us, especially in teenagers. However, if you are an adult but suddenly have a lot of acne on your face, you need to find out the cause to fix it.
What is acne?
Acne is considered a skin disease caused by the activity of the sebaceous glands under the skin. When the sebaceous glands are overactive, the sebum gets clogged in the hair follicles, causing inflammation, forming acne.
Acne typically appears on the face, shoulders, back, and chest and is common in teenagers.
Acne is considered a skin disease.
Some types of acne are not as painful as blackheads, whiteheads, and red pimples. However, there are also types of acne that cause us pain and discomfort such as pustules, cysts, and nodules.
If acne only appears for a short time, does not cause much pain, we can treat it ourselves. But when acne appears more and more, has been treated for more than 3 months without any effect, we need to see a dermatologist for examination and active treatment.
We should see a doctor when acne appears a lot and the condition is serious.
Why do I have so many pimples on my face?
Acne breakouts can be caused by high testosterone levels. This is also the reason why acne is so common among teenagers.
During puberty, the hormone testosterone is active, stimulating the sebaceous glands in the skin, causing the skin to secrete more oil. This oil, along with dirt, will clog pores, causing inflammation and forming acne.
In addition to strong testosterone hormone activity, naturally occurring acne can also be caused by taking medications containing corticosteroids, androgens, or lithium.
Hormonal changes, poor lifestyle and dietary habits can be the cause of acne.
The habit of using phones and some items such as helmets, face-lift belts... can be the cause of more natural acne. We need to clean the surfaces that come into contact with the skin regularly to ensure that bacteria are not brought to the skin, and not press objects on the skin for a long time to avoid clogging pores, causing acne.
Irregular eating and resting can also be the cause of acne naturally appearing on the face. Fatty foods, lack of sleep and stress will create conditions for the sebaceous glands to work harder, causing acne on the skin.
