According to VNA, many Russian logistics companies have opened railway and sea routes to promote Vietnam-Russia trade, in which FESCO Group with the project to build Ho Chi Minh City seaport into a transit port for goods to Southeast Asian countries plays a key role.
Deputy General Director of Logistics of FESCO based in Vladivostok, Mr. German Maslov, said that after two years of operation, the sea route connecting Vladivostok with Vietnamese ports has proven to be highly effective, with many customers in both countries interested. From one initial ship, FESCO has now increased to three regular ships. The volume of goods transported between Vietnam and Russia by FESCO in 2025 has increased by 16% compared to 2024. Goods from ASEAN countries to Russia are also transshipped by FESCO through Vietnamese ports.

From that efficiency, two months ago FESCO opened a new transport route from Vietnam to Saint Petersburg port in the Northwest and to Novorosiysk port in the South, meaning that goods can be transported from Vietnam to all three largest ports of vast Russia. Mr. Maslov affirmed that Vietnam has become an indispensable location for developing logistics activities in this region.
In addition to routes to Russia, Vietnam is also an important hub in regional routes, FESCO has routes Vietnam-Malaysia, Vietnam-Indonesia, Vietnam-Thailand. Thanks to the Vietnam gateway, FESCO's cargo volume with Malaysia has increased by 66%, with Indonesia increased by 2 times, equivalent to thousands of cargo containers.
Mr. Maslov commented that Vietnam can be called a key seaport for the transport map with ASEAN, a factor to increase the transport of goods between Russia and ASEAN. Currently, FESCO has opened a representative office in Vietnam, in the near future FESCO will consider plans to build warehouses, port gates, and open joint businesses.
Vietnamese Consul General in Vladivostok Nguyen Viet Kien said that first of all, Vladivostok should be viewed as a gateway, not just a market. If we can exploit and capture that gateway in time, we will have more favorable opportunities to continue entering the Russian market and the large Eurasian market in general. In addition, the Far East will receive much stronger investment in the near future, when at the recent Eastern Economic Forum, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced that he would focus on developing energy, developing the road transport system, and developing cities in the Far East region.
This is a good condition and time for Vietnamese enterprises to invest abroad, exploiting the role of pioneers, going first, and dominating the initial market. Mr. Nguyen Viet Kien emphasized that the Consulate General and the Trade Representative Office of Vietnam in Vladivostok are ready to act as a bridge and advise domestic enterprises in establishing and expanding investment.
Vietnam has now established 32 shipping routes, including 25 international shipping routes and 7 domestic shipping routes, in which, in addition to intra-Asia routes, the northern region has exploited 2 routes to North America; the southern region has formed 16 long-distance shipping routes to North America and Europe, surpassing Southeast Asian countries (only after Malaysia and Singapore). With the Government's open investment policies, Vietnam's seaport system has attracted many professional port investors and major shipping lines in the world to participate in investing in construction and exploitation of seaports. |
