On February 16, the leaders of Vietnam Coffee Corporation (Vinacafe) responded to the information that workers were upset because they were asked to pay social insurance with coffee as reported by Tuoi Tre .
According to a Vinacafe leader, after reading the newspaper's reflection, the group's leaders directly contacted the companies to grasp the situation. At the same time, they asked the companies to review the incident and report on the practical implementation of the corporation's new contract guidance.
Require companies to clearly state the implementation process, causes, reasons and results for the corporation to grasp.
Vinacafe leaders informed that according to the provisions of the Law on Social Insurance, the social insurance contribution rate for employees is 32% of salary. Of which, the enterprise's obligation is 21.5%, the employee's obligation is 10.5%.
The insurance agency does not determine whether the company must collect in cash or in products, so the company organizes a plan to collect and pay in cash for social insurance.
According to the general guidance of the corporation, the current contract scheme stipulates that social insurance premiums are collected by products. Before implementation, some units expressed their opinions that if coffee prices increase, it will be difficult to implement the product collection scheme.
There are also units that propose to recalculate and negotiate with workers to collect money. With the current high coffee price, workers are likely to agree, but coffee prices cannot increase forever. In case the price decreases in the following years, the company will dispute with workers and demand more money, which is not a good thing.
Therefore, the corporation has given its direction to develop a contract plan for all member companies to collect insurance and union fees by products.
Vinacafe leaders shared that when building the contract plan, the aim was not to exploit workers, but to ensure the source of social insurance contributions.
This brings two benefits: for the company, it complies with the law on insurance payments, and for the employee, it allows him to fully participate in social insurance and enjoy insurance benefits when he reaches retirement age.
This person also said that before collecting insurance in cash, many workers refused to pay, leading to many member companies still having a situation where workers owe insurance and cannot collect it.

"Regarding this incident, we have asked the companies to re-examine and promptly report to the corporation. The corporation's viewpoint is to ensure harmony of interests, and must have the consensus and support of the employees.
After checking and researching, if the workers' wishes are correct, then the wishes must be considered because only when the workers agree can the business be successful. Whatever is beneficial to the people should be done, do not create tension or frustration with the workers," Vinacafe leaders informed.
