Accordingly, the landslide area is located on the section from Long Vinh Border Guard Station to the ferry terminal through Cu Lao Dung ( Can Tho City). Currently, the landslide is strong and at risk of spreading about 800m further. The landslide has destroyed the coastal embankment, the waves have approached the foot of the Giong Ban dike, causing landslides of about 70m long at the foot of the dike, estimated to cause damage to 4 shrimp farming households, with an area of 2.2ha of ponds, total damage of about 3.5 billion VND.

Faced with the rapid and complicated development of landslides, the People's Committee of Long Vinh commune has put up warning signs and zoned off the landslide area; at the same time, mobilized and supported affected households to evacuate to safe places according to regulations. On-site forces were deployed to respond, closely monitor the landslide developments, and prepare materials, human resources, and equipment to be ready to handle the incident if it continues to occur.

In addition, the Commune People's Committee is urgently collecting statistics, assessing the damage, and preparing documents to submit to competent authorities for consideration of supporting the people. It is forecasted that from now until the end of the year, the weather situation will continue to be complicated. If the dike breaks, more than 200 households with 250 hectares of aquaculture inside the dike are at risk of losing over 3,500 billion VND, and at the same time seriously affecting local security and defense.

Deputy Director of the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Vinh Long province Le Quang Rang said that in recent years, the impact of climate change and human impacts have made river and coastal erosion in Vinh Long increasingly serious, greatly affecting people's lives. Since the beginning of 2025, the whole province has recorded 125 landslides, with a total length of more than 7.2km, affecting 531 households, with estimated damage of about 24.3 billion VND.
