After 2 wins in the qualifying round, in the early morning of September 8 (Vietnam time), martial artist Dinh Van Tam entered the final match against martial artist Jiaming Ou (China). Despite his determination and best efforts, the martial artist from Quang Ngai stopped at the runner-up position, bringing home a precious silver medal for the Vietnam Wushu Team.
Martial artist Dinh Van Tam (19 years old), from Son Mai commune, is the only martial artist from Quang Ngai to be on the national team participating in this tournament. Considered the “bright pearl” of Vietnamese wushu, this Hre martial artist has continuously made his mark in domestic and international arenas.
Up to now, Tam has won more than 20 medals of all kinds at national and international competitions, including: Gold medal at the Asian Youth Wushu Championship in Brunei (2019), Bronze medal at the 8th World Youth Wushu Championship in Indonesia (2022), Bronze medal at the World Wushu Championship in the US (2023), Gold medal at the Asian Wushu Championship (2024) and especially Gold medal at the 2025 Sanda World Cup in China last April.
The 17th World Wushu Championships, 2025, will take place in Brazil, bringing together hundreds of martial artists from many countries and regions. This is a top tournament, held every two years, of the world's best martial artists.
At the end of the tournament, the Vietnamese Wushu Team won a total of 7 medals (2 gold, 2 silver, 3 bronze). Two gold medals belonged to female athletes Nguyen Thi Thu Thuy (56kg) and Ngo Thi Phuong Nga (52kg).
