Thang An Commune rewards brave citizens for saving drowning people

DNO - On the afternoon of July 30, the People's Committee of Thang An commune unexpectedly commended citizen Nguyen Van Tam (born 1988, Tan An village, Thang An commune) for his brave act of saving a drowning person.

Previously, at 7:20 pm on July 26, while having dinner with his family, Nguyen Van Tam received news that someone had drowned at Tan An fishing wharf (Thang An commune). He immediately stopped his meal, quickly went to the place where the victim was and swam out to save the person.

Mr. Tam said that at that time, the drowned person was 50-60m from the shore. With his experience as a fisherman and regularly rescuing people in distress at sea, he quickly approached and brought the victim to shore, performed first aid, and saved the victim's life. After that, the victim was taken to the hospital for care and treatment.

The person saved by Mr. Tam was a young man (name unknown), from Binh Dinh, who was traveling and walking around Binh Minh beach.

For his brave act of saving people in the night of big waves, Mr. Nguyen Van Tam was commended and unexpectedly rewarded by the Chairman of the People's Committee of Thang An Commune, Nguyen Thanh Phong.

"Mr. Nguyen Van Tam is a shining example of bravery, not afraid of danger, promptly saving a drowning person in the dark, which needs to be widely spread in the community," said Mr. Phong.
