Building Van Don people to develop comprehensively

After 5 years of implementing Resolution No. 11-NQ/TU on building and developing culture and people of Quang Ninh to meet the requirements of sustainable development, Van Don district has made many new steps in preserving, embellishing and maintaining the unique cultural values ​​of the land rich in historical traditions.

Forming a healthy and civilized cultural environment

Identifying that investing in culture means investing in people, an important resource for socio-economic development, in recent years, the work of preserving and promoting the value of cultural heritage has always been of interest and direction to Van Don district. Many tangible and intangible cultural heritages in the area have been researched, identified, protected and promoted. Currently, the district has 55 historical and cultural relics and scenic spots; of which the Cap Tien temple relic is located in the complex of special national relics (Cua Ong - Cap Tien temple relic), 3 national relics, 8 provincial relics and 44 relics have been inventoried and classified.

The work of renovating and restoring relics to promote the value of cultural heritage in the district has received investment attention, creating resources for the development of the tourism industry, contributing to the socio-economic development of the locality. In 2021, Quan Lan communal house was renovated and restored with a budget of 25 billion VND. In 2022, Mau temple (Quan Lan commune) was renovated and restored with a total budget of 8 billion VND from socialized sources. Notably, the Van Don Traditional Historical Festival was ranked as a National Intangible Cultural Heritage in 2019; the memorial site of President Ho Chi Minh on Ngoc Vung island was ranked as a National Historical Relic in 2022; Van Don Commercial Port Complex was ranked as a Special National Historical Relic in 2023.

In the period of 2022-2024, the district has invested in building, renovating, upgrading, and building new cultural houses at the commune, village, and neighborhood levels, cultural centers of communes and towns, and district sports centers with an investment of 43.85 billion VND. Through investing, completing, managing, and exploiting cultural and sports institutions well, it has contributed to improving the spiritual life of officials and people in the district, ensuring the work of serving the local political tasks in organizing competitions, cultural, artistic, physical education, and sports performances, maintaining club activities and recreational activities for children and teenagers...

Ms. Pham Thi Diem (Cai Rong town, Van Don district) said: With the district's investment, the cultural and artistic movement has developed strongly, attracting a large number of cadres and members of many groups and ages to participate, creating a useful playground for health training. Mass sports and artistic activities organized enthusiastically in the neighborhood have created a healthy and cohesive social environment.

Implementing Resolution No. 11-NQ/TU of the Provincial Party Committee, Van Don district has organized and carried out many campaigns and emulation movements, typically: "All people unite to build a cultural life", "All people unite to build a new rural area, civilized urban areas", "Cultural families", "Cultural villages and neighborhoods", "Code of conduct in the community, building standards of cultural and human values"...

Thereby, many traditional cultural values ​​of the nation are preserved and promoted. Sports movements are launched, especially mass sports movements in agencies, units, enterprises and in residential areas. Many campaigns and movements implemented by all levels and sectors are effective, go into depth, have a spreading effect throughout society, contribute to building and developing Van Don culture and people, promoting socio-economic development.

Guiding people towards the values ​​of truth - goodness - beauty

Adhering to Resolution No. 11-NQ/TU of the Provincial Party Committee, Van Don district always attaches importance to and innovates the work of building a cultural environment. The district builds codes of conduct in the community, builds standards of cultural and human values. Thereby, contributing to raising the awareness of cadres, party members and the masses in building and developing culture, promoting traditional values ​​in the district.

One of the highlights in building Van Don's human culture is that the implementation of a civilized lifestyle in weddings, funerals and festivals continues to be effectively implemented. The organization of festivals is of interest to the Party Committees and authorities of units and localities. The phenomenon of placing offerings in the wrong place has been basically limited; the burning of votive paper in the right place is well implemented. Religious activities taking place at relics and festivals are carried out in accordance with regulations.

Cultural service management has also been strengthened. At the same time, the district has issued many plans and documents guiding the implementation of village covenants and conventions in the area. Village covenants and conventions are built close to the actual situation, contributing to preserving and promoting cultural values ​​and local customs. Currently, 72/72 villages in the area have built village covenants and conventions. Thereby, promoting the people's self-awareness in participating in building civilized and clean residential communities and urban areas, communes meeting new rural standards, preserving the landscape and environmental sanitation, and building a cultural lifestyle.

Inheriting and promoting the achievements after 5 years of implementing Resolution No. 11-NQ/TU, Van Don district is continuing to implement Resolution No. 17-NQ/TU of the Provincial Party Committee on building and promoting cultural values, the strength of Quang Ninh people to become an endogenous resource, a driving force for rapid and sustainable development. The district's goal is to continue to improve culture, and to invest in cultural institutions in association with the construction of civilized urban areas. State management of culture is strengthened, and the staff working in cultural affairs is increasingly mature. The work of preserving and promoting traditional cultural values ​​in the area continues to receive attention.
