(NLDO)- Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh : Vietnam International Defense Exhibition 2024 is an outstanding international event with a message of peace, cooperation, and mutual development.

On the morning of December 19, the Vietnamese Ministry of National Defense solemnly held the opening ceremony of the Vietnam International Defense Exhibition 2024 at Gia Lam airport, Hanoi.

General Phan Van Giang welcomed Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh to the exhibition opening ceremony.

Attending the opening ceremony were Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh; Permanent Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Hoa Binh; General Phan Van Giang, Deputy Secretary of the Central Military Commission, Minister of National Defense; General Luong Tam Quang, Minister of Public Security, and many leaders of central ministries, departments and branches.

On the international side, there were Senior Lieutenant General Khamliang Outhakaysone, member of the Central Committee of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party, Minister of National Defense of Laos; Senior Lieutenant General Tea Seiha, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of National Defense of Cambodia; Senior Lieutenant General Álvaro López Miera, member of the Politburo of the Communist Party of Cuba, Minister of the Cuban Revolutionary Armed Forces; Lieutenant General Khrenin Viktor Gennadievich, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of National Defense of Belarus; Mr. Phumtham Wechayachai, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of National Defense of Thailand; Major General Pehin Datu Lailaraja Dato Paduka Seri Haji Halbi, Second Minister of National Defense of Brunei; Mr. Byambatsogt Sandag, Minister of National Defense of Mongolia; representatives of leaders of the Ministry of National Defense, military commanders of many countries in the region and the world.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh said that the Vietnam International Defense Exhibition 2024 has special significance, being an outstanding international event with a message of peace, cooperation, and mutual development, contributing to promoting foreign affairs and defense cooperation in all fields; for peace, stability, cooperation and development in the region and the world.

The Prime Minister emphasized that Vietnam is a peace-loving country that values ​​justice, love, and reason in international cooperation. Vietnam consistently pursues a foreign policy of independence, self-reliance, multilateralization, and diversification of relations, being a good friend and reliable partner to all countries and an active and responsible member of the international community.

Vietnam proactively promotes foreign affairs and defense cooperation to enhance friendship and mutual understanding, demonstrate sincerity and build trust, jointly resolve common security and safety challenges, prevent conflicts and wars, in accordance with the basic principles of international law, and contribute to peace, cooperation and common development in the region and around the world.

Having experienced much pain, sacrifice and loss due to war, Vietnam understands and appreciates the value of friendship, for peace, cooperation and development. Vietnam firmly adheres to the 4 no's defense policy: No participation in military alliances; No ally with one country to fight against another; No allowing foreign countries to set up military bases or use its territory to fight against other countries; No use of force or threat of force in international relations.

The Vietnam International Defense Exhibition 2024 is an affirmation of Vietnam's role and contribution to national defense cooperation; a symbol of trust, respect and goodwill to cooperate between countries for a peaceful, stable and prosperous world; a vivid demonstration of the support and meaningful affection of international friends for the country, people and the Vietnamese People's Army, the heroic army of a heroic nation; always showing sincerity, trust and responsibility to international friends.

On behalf of the Government of Vietnam, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh respectfully thanked international delegates, businesses, corporations, military and security industry corporations, and countries that participated in the exhibition. "You bring us sincerity, trust, and effective cooperation with the heroic Vietnamese People's Army. We believe that the Vietnam International Defense Exhibition 2024 will be a great success, bringing many opportunities for exchanges, sharing experiences, exchanging scientific and technological advances, innovation, digital transformation, promoting the development of military trade, opening up a promising future of cooperation in the spirit of peace, friendship, cooperation and development" - the Prime Minister emphasized.

The opening ceremony program with the theme "Vietnam - Peace - Cooperation - Development" with 2,000 officers and soldiers of the Vietnam People's Army performing. In particular, the Vietnam Air Force flew to welcome, the Vietnam People's Army Special Forces, and Border Guard dogs performed to welcome the exhibition.

The Vietnam International Defense Exhibition 2024 has a total area of ​​over 100,000 m2 with an indoor exhibition area of ​​15,000 m2 (double that of 2022) and an outdoor area of ​​over 20,000 m2. The exhibition has the participation of 66 international delegations and more than 240 defense industry enterprises from 49 countries. Participating enterprises display and introduce combat vehicles, technological solutions, weapons, equipment used for the navy, army, air force, cyber warfare and logistics and technical equipment.

Many Vietnamese products displayed and introduced at the exhibition were researched and manufactured by agencies and units of the Ministry of National Defense, such as: General Department of Defense Industry, Air Defense - Air Force, Navy, Military Technical Academy, Vietnam - Russia Tropical Center, Armored Corps, Chemical Corps, Military Science and Technology Institute, Military Industry - Telecommunications Group (Viettel) and commercial and service companies of the Ministry of National Defense.
