The University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi (VNU-Hanoi) said that this morning, August 24, the school received feedback from candidates about their unfair failure in their favorite choices because they did not know that the school had corrected the admission information.

Specifically, on June 4, on its website, Hanoi University of Social Sciences and Humanities posted a notice of the issuance of the document "Information on regular university admissions in 2025", in which D66 is stated to be a combination of subjects including literature, English, economic education and law.
On June 7, the school posted on the website a correction of "Information on regular university admissions in 2025", which included the following content: "Group D66 changed the subject "economic and legal education" to "civic education".
Combination D66 is used for admission to most majors (27/28) of Hanoi University of Social Sciences and Humanities. This is a combination to replace combination D78 (literature, English, social sciences), which was the combination that the school used last year for admission to most majors). The initial purpose of including combination D66 in admission is to create conditions for university admission for candidates studying the old program but still want to take the high school graduation exam this year.
However, some candidates could only read the initial announcement (posted on June 4) but not the subsequent announcement (posted on June 7). Therefore, they were convinced that they were qualified for the subject combination when registering for their favorite majors at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Hanoi.
After the admission results were announced, these candidates looked up the results. Based on the school's admission score announcement, they were sure that they had passed their favorite choice. Therefore, when they saw that their names were not on the admission list, they were shocked.
Accept both D66 combinations
This afternoon, August 24, speaking to Thanh Nien Newspaper reporters , a leader of the Hanoi University of Social Sciences and Humanities said that after receiving the candidate's feedback, the school re-checked the information and found that the candidate's feedback was well-founded. Therefore, the school coordinated with the Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Education and Training to receive technical support in handling the matter, in order to ensure the rights of the candidates.
The solution is to accept the D66 combination consisting of 2 groups of subjects: literature, English, civic education (for students taking the exam according to the 2006 high school education program); literature, English, economic and legal education (for students taking the exam according to the 2018 general education program).

Accordingly, candidates taking the 2018 general education program and having enough scores in the three subjects of literature, English, and economic and legal education, if they have enough standard scores to enter the registered major but have not passed the above wish, will be considered for admission. Those who have passed the lower wish will be "released" from the passed wish by the system, returning them to the correct wish.
The "incident" will be resolved soon, and candidates who "wrongly failed" their favorite wishes will soon receive notification of admission from the system. After that, they will complete the online admission confirmation procedure and enroll directly as in all other normal cases.
It is known that currently there are 3 candidates admitted to the Hanoi University of Social Sciences and Humanities thanks to the "old" D66 combination (literature, English, civics). Initial checks on the system show that the number of "unfairly failed" candidates is not much.
However, admitting these students may also cause the school to exceed its quota. "If the school exceeds its quota, it will be fined. However, the school accepts the option of paying the fine so that the candidates will not feel resentful when the fault lies primarily with the school," the above-mentioned leader shared.
According to statistics from Thanh Nien Newspaper reporters , nationwide there are 47,905 candidates who meet the requirements for the D66 combination (with exam scores in 3 subjects: literature, English, economic education and law); there are 1,091 candidates who meet the requirements for the "old" D66 combination.
