From last night to this morning, June 26, the midland and mountainous areas of the North continued to have moderate to very heavy rain, according to updated data from the automatic rain gauge system Vrain. Localities with heavy rain include: Yen Bai (158 mm), Son La (115 mm), Phu Tho (115 mm), Lai Chau (85 mm), Ha Giang (99 mm), Dien Bien (51 mm)...

In Yen Bai province, due to heavy rain, in the early morning of June 26, at group 15, Dong Tam ward, Yen Bai city, a serious landslide occurred, completely burying one house.

According to initial information from the authorities, at around 1 a.m., rocks and soil from the positive slope behind suddenly collapsed, collapsing the house in lane 1026, Dien Bien street.

At the time of the incident, there were 5 people in the house. Of those, 4 were lucky to escape in time, but PTH (a male born in 2010), a 10th grade student, was unable to run out in time and was buried.

Immediately after receiving the news, the authorities were present at the scene, organized a search and brought the victim's body out.

The accident occurred in the context of heavy rains continuing in the midlands and mountainous areas of the North such as Lao Cai, Yen Bai, Ha Giang, Bac Kan, Cao Bang, Lang Son... increasing the risk of landslides and flash floods. Local authorities continue to advise people to be vigilant, especially in areas with steep mountainous terrain, to avoid unfortunate losses of people and property.
