On the afternoon of June 26, local authorities in Quang Tri province are investigating the case of food poisoning among many students at Kim Thuy Primary Boarding School, Kim Ngan Commune, Quang Tri Province.

It is known that at around 8am the same day, many students of Kim Thuy Primary Boarding School showed symptoms of vomiting and severe stomachache after having breakfast at school. Immediately after discovering the incident, teachers and school medical staff took care of and gave first aid to the students, but the symptoms became more and more serious, so the school's Board of Directors informed the local authorities and decided to take the students to the hospital for examination and treatment. The People's Committee of Kim Ngan commune mobilized the commune's vehicles to take the students to the hospital.
Mr. Dang Van Duong, Chairman of the People's Committee of Kim Ngan Commune, Quang Tri Province, said that the authorities have sealed the food samples for testing. The local police force also went to the scene to investigate and clarify the cause of the incident.

It is known that the children admitted to the hospital showed signs of abdominal pain and diarrhea. Immediately after admission, the children were examined and tested by the hospital's medical staff. Kim Thuy Primary Boarding School is located in a mountainous area. The students of the school are mainly children of the Van Kieu ethnic group and eat breakfast at school. Initial information shows that the children's breakfast is banh tay, a type of cake made from sticky rice and wrapped in banana leaves.
