In order for the formation of 6 Yak-130 aircraft to be able to take off at 7:00 a.m. to carry out the mission, at 3:00 a.m. the technical force of Regiment 940 urgently carried out the task of checking and adjusting the parameters of 6 aircraft to be ready to take off for training as planned.

Under the command, direction and close coordination of Regiment 927 (Division 371) and other units in the joint flight training of 3 types of equipment Su-30, L-39LG and Yak-130 at Kep airport. Yak-130 aircraft were ordered to take off in a formation of 3 aircraft 1. After stable maneuvering from an altitude of 600 to 1000m, 6 Yak-130 aircraft were controlled by the pilots to reduce altitude, join the team, and arrange the formation through the simulated grandstand area at low altitude, with stable distance, spacing and altitude difference. During the formation process, the pilots strictly followed the flight data. The image of 6 aircraft soaring in the air with the roar of the engines, demonstrated the strong power of the Southern wings in the Northern sky.

Talking with Colonel Nguyen Van Son, Commander of Regiment 940, we learned that: The Regiment successfully conducted training on flying in formation of 6 aircraft after a few days of transfer because the unit has a team of pilots with rich experience in flying in large formations (from 3, 4, 5 aircraft); before moving to Kep airport, the unit also proactively developed a plan, the departments coordinated and cooperated closely and had previously successfully organized a flight training team for 6 aircraft in formation at Phu Cat airport.

In particular, in 2023, the officers and flight instructors of the Regiment have been mobilized to carry out training missions and participate in long-term exercises at Kep airport and the Northern region, so they are quite familiar with the terrain, safety conditions and weather and meteorological factors. In addition to the basic advantages, the unit also encountered many difficulties.

Currently, Regiment 940 carries out many intertwined missions, with troops scattered across 3 airports (Kep, Tuy Hoa, Phu Cat); weather conditions at Kep airport area are often cloudy and foggy, affecting visibility, especially formation flights with close distances and low altitudes. However, with determination and efforts for the mission, the unit has proactively developed plans and assigned specific tasks to participating forces, especially pilots who have performed well in flight preparation, organizing the study of airport regulations, coordinating between flight commanders and grasping flight path data between squadron numbers.

With careful and scientific preparation, in the flight team forming the first 6 aircraft in the sky of Kep airport area, Regiment 940 successfully performed 7 times of moving into a uniform and beautiful formation through the simulated grandstand area to ensure absolute safety. This initial success is a solid premise for the officers, pilots and security elements of Regiment 940 to continue to be determined to excellently perform the training mission to be ready for joint training, comprehensive training, preliminary rehearsal, general rehearsal and official flight on the great festival day of the country.
