Which schools are the 6 members of the International Youth Science Olympiad team students from?

The Hanoi Department of Education and Training (DET) has announced the lineup for the 2024 International Junior Science Olympiad (IJSO) with 6 members.

Accordingly, Newton Secondary and High School contributed two students, Vu Nhat Long and Vuong Ha Chi. Nguyen Hue High School for the Gifted had one student, Nguyen Thanh Nhan.

The remaining 3 members are students of Hanoi - Amsterdam High School for the Gifted: Le Gia Hong Minh, Nguyen Ngoc Que Chi, Le Tung Lam.

All 6 students were born in 2009 and are in grade 10.

Notably, Vu Nhat Long and Vuong Ha Chi are two students who have had outstanding achievements at secondary school level.

Vu Nhat Long is a former student of class 9G0 at Newton school. In the 2023-2024 school year, Nhat Long topped the city's excellent student exam in Science .

Previously, in the 2022-2023 school year, while in grade 8, Nhat Long took the exam to advance to a higher level and also won first prize at the city level in this subject.

Vuong Ha Chi is a former student of Hanoi - Amsterdam High School for the Gifted. She won first prize in the city's excellent student competition in science and second prize in the city's excellent student competition in biology.

In the 2024 10th grade entrance exam, Ha Chi passed the Biology major of all specialized schools in Hanoi, and also passed the dual degree program of Ams school with a score in the Top 9. However, she chose to study at a private school to pursue her own goals.

Previously, Hanoi organized a competition to select the International Youth Science Olympiad team on September 18. There were 226 students from 14 high schools in Hanoi competing in 5 subjects including math, physics, chemistry, biology and English.

The total score is the sum of the scores of all 5 subjects.

The final results included 6 first prizes, 33 second prizes, 38 third prizes and 52 consolation prizes. Of which, 6 students who won first prizes won the right to participate in the 2024 International Junior Science Olympiad in Romania from December 2 to 12.

The International Youth Science Olympiad is organized on a rotational basis by the Ministries of Education of various countries to encourage students to have early access to scientific knowledge, and is also an opportunity for cultural exchange between students and teachers in the scientific community of countries around the world.

Candidates must take 3 exams within 240 minutes with questions from 3 fields: physics, chemistry, and biology.

Vietnam has participated in this playground since 2007, winning a total of 77 medals, including 16 gold medals.
