According to Neowin , in his latest Power On newsletter, Bloomberg's Mark Gurman, a technology market commentator, said that Apple will introduce a USB-C charging case for the AirPods Pro. This move is in line with the transition from Lightning to USB-C that Apple made to comply with the common charging standard of the European Union (EU).
The next AirPods Pro will have a bunch of new health features
One of the notable new health features is a built-in hearing test, which allows the earbuds to play different sounds to assess the user's hearing health. This feature allows users to more conveniently assess their hearing directly from the AirPods. The idea is to help users screen for hearing problems, not unlike how the ECG feature on the Apple Watch checks for heart problems.
Gurman also said that Apple is looking to capitalize on the recent FDA approval to sell over-the-counter hearing aids, which Apple is exploring using as an alternative to hearing aids.
By hiring several engineers from long-standing hearing aid manufacturers, Apple is working to expand the functionality of its headphones to offer hearing aid capabilities.
In addition to the hearing-focused features, the next-generation AirPods Pro are expected to come with a built-in temperature sensor, which will allow users to accurately measure their body temperature using the ear canal.
However, Mark Gurman stressed that these functions could take "months or even years" to reach users. On the other hand, other notable features on the new AirPods Pro include the H2 chip, longer battery life, touch controls and Spatial Audio support.
