An Giang organizes many events at the UNESCO heritage certificate reception ceremony

On March 14, An Giang held a press conference to inform about the organization of many events at the ceremony to receive the UNESCO certificate recognizing the Via Ba Chua Xu Festival of Sam Mountain as an intangible cultural heritage of humanity and to open the Via Ba Chua Xu Festival of Sam Mountain in 2025.

Ms. Tran Thi Thanh Huong - Head of the Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Department of An Giang Provincial Party Committee; Mr. Lam Quang Thi - Secretary of Chau Doc City Party Committee, Ms. Nguyen Thi Minh Thuy - Vice Chairman of An Giang Provincial People's Committee and Mr. Nguyen Khanh Hiep - Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism co-chaired the press conference.

According to the organizers, the ceremony to receive the UNESCO recognition certificate and the opening of the Ba Chua Xu festival on Sam mountain 2025 will be held with the participation of about 2,000 local and central delegates. The ceremony will take place at 7:00 p.m. on March 19 at the Sam mountain national tourist area (Sam mountain ward, Chau Doc city).

The main ceremony includes receiving the UNESCO recognition certificate and the opening ceremony of the Ba Chua Xu festival on Sam mountain. The remaining part is a special art program night with the participation of many singers, meritorious artists, and famous people's artists of Vietnam. This is followed by a low-altitude fireworks display. Before the ceremony, the organizers and delegates will offer incense at the tomb of the famous god Thoai Ngoc Hau, the Ba Chua Xu temple on Sam mountain...

The ceremony to receive the UNESCO certificate and open the Via Ba Chua Xu Nui Sam 2025 festival aims to honor, propagate and widely promote the heritage values of An Giang to a large number of tourists from near and far. To increase awareness of the domestic and international community about the cultural, historical values and significance of the Via Ba Chua Xu Nui Sam Festival.

Enhance the responsibility to preserve and promote the value of intangible cultural heritage representative of humanity. Promote the historical and cultural values of the land and people of An Giang, embellish the rich cultural identity of the Kinh, Hoa, Cham, Khmer ethnic communities...

The Ba Chua Xu Festival in Sam Mountain is the 16th intangible cultural heritage of Vietnam recognized by UNESCO. It is the second intangible cultural heritage of the Southern region, after the art of Southern amateur music and the first traditional festival of the Southern region recognized by UNESCO.
