'Mr. Mountain' Xuan Bac returns to Hai Phong to light up his dream of reform

On June 14, the program "Lighting up the dream of reform" in 2024 took place at Xuan Nguyen Prison, Hai Phong City. People's Artist Xuan Bac emotionally said that 30 years ago, he himself went to this prison to make the film Waves at the bottom of the river , playing the character Nui.

This year's program is organized by the Central Youth Union in coordination with the Police Department for Management of Detention Camps, Compulsory Education Facilities, and Reformatory Schools under the Ministry of Public Security , the Vietnam Youth Union of Hai Phong City, and Xuan Nguyen Prison.

This is an activity to concretize the work of coordinating education , rehabilitation, and helping prisoners and inmates of youth age reintegrate into the community in the period of 2021 - 2025 between the Central Youth Union and the Ministry of Public Security.

This year, the organizing committee examined, provided health consultation, dispensed medicine, and cut hair for more than 250 prisoners; organized the program "Loving Meals - More Motivation", increased the meal rations for more than 1,000 prisoners of the prison, and presented 50 gifts to prisoners with difficult circumstances who have trained and reformed well.

At the program, People's Artist Xuan Bac - Director of the Vietnam Drama Theater - had an exchange and shared many emotions with prisoners at Xuan Nguyen Prison when he was known for his role as the character Nui in the movie Waves at the bottom of the river .

After 2 years of implementing the coordination program for the period 2021 - 2025, the Central Committee of the Vietnam Youth Union has presented nearly 1,000 gifts with a total value of 400 million VND and organized 92 vocational training classes for more than 3,000 prisoners.

In addition, the organization provided free medical examinations and medicine to more than 2,000 prisoners; provided psychological and legal counseling, and assisted in finding jobs for more than 12,000 prisoners after serving their sentences.

Many cases are equipped with vocational knowledge, helped with loans, guided in production development, stabilized life, promoted sense of responsibility to the community, proactively prevented, actively fought and eliminated social evils.
