There were not many surprises in the group stage of the Women's Volleyball World Championship. At the end of yesterday's competition day (August 25), most of the strong and highly rated teams achieved good results and quickly won tickets to the next round.

In Group A, host Thailand won all 2 matches against Egypt (3-1), Sweden (3-0), reaching 6 points. The Netherlands also won 2 matches against Sweden (3-2), Egypt (3-0), reaching 5 points. This result helped the Thai and Dutch women's volleyball teams to quickly secure tickets to the next round and will compete for first and second place in the group when they meet each other in the final match taking place at 8:30 p.m. today.
In Group B, the Italian team affirmed their superiority when they beat Slovakia 3-0, beat Cuba 3-0, reaching 6 points. The Belgian team also won with the same score of 3-0 against Slovakia and Cuba, reaching 6 points. Thanks to that, the ticket to the next round is in the hands of the Italian and Belgian teams. They will face each other at 5:00 p.m. today to determine the first and second place in the group.

In group C, the Brazilian team won the first ticket after 2 wins against Greece (3-0), France (3-2), reaching 5 points. The remaining ticket is the competition between the French team (4 points) and the Greek team (3 points). In group D, the first team to advance is the US team with 2 wins with the same score of 3-1 against Slovenia and Argentina. The remaining ticket is the race between 3 teams Argentina (3 points), Czech Republic (2 points) and Slovenia (1 point).
In Group E, the result was decided when Turkey and Canada quickly won tickets to the next round. Türkiye won all 2 matches against Spain (3-0), Bulgaria (3-0) to get 6 points while Canada won Bulgaria (3-1), won Spain (3-2) to get 5 points. The situation in Group F was also soon decided when Dominican Republic and China won tickets to the next round after 2 wins.

In Group G, Poland and Germany won tickets to the next round after asserting their strength. Poland beat Vietnam 3-1, beat Kenya 3-1 while Germany was more impressive when they did not lose a single game against Vietnam (3-0), Kenya (3-0). The two tickets to the next round in Group H also had owners: Serbia (6 points) and Japan (5 points).
Thus, 14/16 teams have been determined to enter the knockout round (16 teams) namely Thailand, Netherlands (Group A), Italy, Belgium (Group B), Brazil (Group C), USA (Group D), Turkey, Canada (Group E), Dominican Republic, China (Group F), Germany, Poland (Group G), Serbia, Japan (Group H).
At 5pm tomorrow (August 27), the Vietnamese women's volleyball team will play the final match of Group G, facing the Kenyan team. The match is a formality, but Coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet's students are eager to find victory to have a beautiful farewell in their first time qualifying for the world championship.
