Since then, under the leadership of the Party, the Vietnamese revolutionary press has always accompanied the country and people, been the core force, played a pioneering role on the ideological and cultural front, continuously grown strong in all aspects, and made great contributions to the revolutionary cause of the Party and our people.
Within just 5 years of its establishment, there were over 50 newspapers and magazines serving the revolutionary work of the Indochina Communist Party, the Annam Communist Party and the various levels of the Vietnam Revolutionary Youth Association. In particular, in the conference to unify the three organizations and establish the Party on February 3, 1930, with comrade Nguyen Ai Quoc passing a resolution on the press, the Vietnamese revolutionary press officially became an important nucleus actively participating in the revolution to liberate the nation, gain independence and freedom.
A brilliant period of Vietnamese revolutionary journalism has opened.
In the rapid flow of the revolution with important milestones being the resistance wars to defend the Fatherland, under the leadership of the Party, the press continued to promote the role of a special "army". The pens of soldiers on the ideological and cultural front were not only sharp weapons exposing crimes and condemning the colonialist war of aggression, but also had the task of propagating the cause of building socialism of our people. This period marked the birth of many major press agencies such as: Red Hammer and Sickle, Independent Vietnam, National Salvation, Liberation Flag, Labor, People, People's Army, Vietnam News Agency, Voice of Vietnam Radio, Vietnam Television... The press agencies of this period all aimed at a common goal of fighting for national liberation.
From the fiery battlefield, news reports, articles, and photos were born in droves. During those years, journalists were the most truthful and timely historians. Journalistic works faithfully reflected the fighting life and labor of our army and people in all parts of the country, were a great source of spiritual encouragement, a call for generations of young people to go to war; many journalistic works became "the call of the country" urging compatriots across the country to charge into all fronts, all for the beloved Fatherland. During the resistance war with countless difficulties, hardships, and dangers, death was always near, but journalists went to battle as soldiers, holding both pens and guns to fight, many journalists heroically sacrificed, their blood dyed the revolutionary flag.
The resistance war was successful, the whole country entered a period of healing the wounds of war, implementing innovation and integration, this was a historical period of great significance in the cause of national development, a process of profound, comprehensive and radical transformation of the great revolutionary cause of the entire Party and people for the goal of "rich people, strong country, democracy, equality and civilization". Under the leadership of the Party, our country has achieved important and historic achievements. The press agencies have performed well their role as the mouthpiece of the Party, the State, political, social and professional organizations, and as a forum for the people, maintaining political orientation, promptly criticizing and fighting against what is old, backward, and hindering innovation, fighting against negative phenomena, corruption, waste, bad habits in society, fighting against wrong views, plots and tricks of " peaceful evolution" by reactionary and hostile forces, protecting the sacred sovereignty of the sea and islands of the Fatherland, contributing to strengthening the people's trust in the Party, the State and the socialist regime.
In the context of current media technology convergence, the activities of press agencies are gradually shifting to the model of multimedia press agencies, implementing many types of journalism, providing many media-related services, meeting the increasingly high and diverse information needs of the public. In addition, technology journalism and the trend of using artificial intelligence, providing cross-border content continue to be the technology trends in journalism in the coming time. Mobile journalism is changing the information reception habits of the press public. Listening, reading, and watching online newspapers are shifting from passive to active, forming a trend based on technology, providing, spreading, and connecting information...
Never before have we had so many types of journalism with such a strong team of writers as today. But, never before have there been so many chaos in the quality of content, the decline in talent and the degradation of the ethics of journalists as there are now. The “bad apples” have been and are “spoiling the barrel”, seriously affecting the quality of revolutionary journalism.
There have been disarrays, mistakes, and backward injuries that require streamlining and re-organizing the team so that the press can develop in a more correct, healthy, and useful direction, avoiding overlapping and wasting both human and material resources, and limiting and preventing violations and negativity in press activities.
Decision No. 362/QD-TTg on the arrangement of basic press agencies has been implemented. Decision No. 1321/QD-TTg on planning the development of the network of press, radio and television, electronic information and publishing establishments for the period 2021 - 2030, with a vision to 2050, has set out a policy to support press agencies, including financial issues, human resources, infrastructure, issues related to the press model, helping the press to better fulfill its mission, promote the development of press agencies with brands, long history, large readership, and orient public opinion according to the set goals.
Recently, Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha signed Decision No. 348/QD-TTg approving the Strategy "Digital transformation of journalism to 2025, with a vision to 2030". Digital transformation of journalism aims to build press agencies in a professional, humane, and modern direction; fulfill the mission of information and propaganda to serve the revolutionary cause of the Party and the country's innovation cause; effectively innovate readers' experiences; ensure the role of leading and orienting public opinion, and maintain information sovereignty in cyberspace...
A new opportunity is opening up, which means new challenges require change to keep up with the trends of the times.
Despite the limitations and difficulties, the 98-year tradition of accompanying the revolution is the most convincing proof of quality, the basis for placing trust in the team of journalists in the country. At the conference summarizing the national press work in 2022 and deploying tasks for 2023, the leaders of the Party, State, central and local ministries and branches affirmed: Information in the press more clearly demonstrates the leading, proactive, timely and effective role in propagating important issues and events of the country. Many press agencies have actively inspired the spirit of courage and devotion to the community and the country; encouraged the spirit of innovation, entrepreneurship to get rich, for the common benefit of the people and businesses; promoted the study and following of Ho Chi Minh's ideology, morality and style.
Identifying 2023 as a pivotal year for implementing the Resolution of the 13th National Party Congress, press agencies and journalists nationwide have been actively implementing many solutions to "build a professional, humane and modern press and media", maintaining the pioneering role and mission in providing official information, orienting public opinion; accompanying the cause of building and defending the Fatherland.
Faced with the requirements of revolutionary tasks in the new period, promoting the glorious tradition of Vietnam's revolutionary press, the team of journalists nationwide constantly trains their political mettle, improves their professional qualifications, upholds professional ethics, strengthens solidarity, joins hands and is unanimous, striving to build a professional, modern, combative, and humane press for the benefit of the country and the people.
