On October 2, Industry and Trade Newspaper held a ceremony to celebrate the 80th anniversary of its traditional day (October 2, 1945 - October 2, 2025) and awarded prizes for the Competition to learn about the tradition of the Industry and Trade sector.
The Industry and Trade Newspaper, with its predecessor being the publication "Vietnam Economic Review," has undergone 80 years of continuous development since October 2, 1945, when Minister Nguyen Manh Ha signed Decree No. 08-BKT/VP on the organization and operation of the Ministry of National Economy, in which the Economic Review Department was assigned the task of publishing this publication.
Having undergone many name changes such as "Economic Front," "Industry and Trade Journal" and "Trade," each name is associated with a historical period and organizational model of the Ministry of Industry and Trade .
During its 80-year journey, the Industry and Trade Newspaper has left a strong impression on readers, affirming its role as a trusted voice of the Industry and Trade sector. Generations of reporters and editors have devoted themselves, "holding pens like holding guns" during the resistance years and continue to promote their role in the period of peace and integration.
Entering the 2020-2025 period, the Industry and Trade Newspaper has made breakthrough developments. With close attention and direction from the leaders of the Ministry and the Party Committee of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the Industry and Trade Newspaper has completed most of the set targets. In particular, the comprehensive innovation in both content and communication form has helped the newspaper affirm its position in the digital transformation trend.
The Electronic Industry and Trade Newspaper has made an impressive breakthrough, from position 626 to top 54 in December 2023 and is currently ranked 24th among the most viewed electronic newspapers in Vietnam. This demonstrates the shift in thinking from "traditional" to "digital" to serve readers more effectively.
In addition, the newspaper has also built a strong digital ecosystem on social networking platforms such as YouTube, TikTok and Fanpage, with the goal of being among the top newspapers of the Ministry and industry. Continuously making its mark at prestigious press awards, Cong Thuong Newspaper has won nearly 30 awards from the National Press Award to other awards related to the fields of finance, justice and energy.
In the new development stage, the Industry and Trade Newspaper is transforming strongly, aiming to apply modern technology and diversify its forms of expression. The goal is to build the Industry and Trade Newspaper into a leading economic newspaper, attractive in content, innovative in form and leading in information about the industry.
Journalist Nguyen Van Minh, Editor-in-Chief of the Industry and Trade Newspaper, emphasized that our country is entering the threshold of a new era. The Industry and Trade sector in general and the Industry and Trade Newspaper in particular are facing a new mission that is greater but also more difficult when they are in the position of a pillar and a locomotive of economic development. Journalist Nguyen Van Minh believes that this mission requires each person working for the Industry and Trade Newspaper today to unite, innovate, and be creative to excellently complete the tasks of a soldier on the two ideological and economic fronts.

Minister of Industry and Trade Nguyen Hong Dien highly appreciated the innovation and development of the Industry and Trade Newspaper, affirming that the newspaper does not only stop at reporting news but also performs the function of leading and refuting negative information, contributing to creating positive influence in society.
At the ceremony, Minister Nguyen Hong Dien awarded certificates of merit to the collectives of the Industry and Trade Newspaper with outstanding achievements in performing their tasks.
