Ensuring traffic safety: Strictly handle speeding violations

Báo Bắc GiangBáo Bắc Giang22/07/2023

(BGDT) - Driving a vehicle at a speed exceeding the prescribed speed limit and not being in control of the steering wheel is one of the direct causes of traffic accidents. Therefore, the traffic police force of Bac Giang province has implemented a special project to strictly handle speeding violations.

In just a short time of duty on Provincial Road 295B, the border between Viet Yen District and Bac Giang City, the working group of the Traffic Police Department (Provincial Police) discovered many cases of speeding violations when passing through densely populated areas. Mr. D.VK in Tan My Commune (Bac Giang City) drove a car with license plate 98A-365.32 through this road, violating 62/50 km/h, so he was ticketed.

Traffic Police Department officers, Provincial Police use specialized equipment to check and detect speeding vehicles on Provincial Road 295B.

Mr. K explained: “Because I was in an urgent situation, I was going over the speed limit. When the traffic police officer pointed out my mistake and had all the pictures, I realized it and signed the ticket, considering it a lesson to learn from and not to violate it again.”

Previously, the task force discovered a foreign man driving a car with license plate 89A-254.16 exceeding 67/50 km/h. When stopping the vehicle, he could not present a driver's license. To prevent the subject from continuing to violate, the task force explained Vietnamese laws and sealed and temporarily detained the car.

Captain Nguyen Van Hung, Deputy Captain of Road Traffic Police Team No. 1, Traffic Police Department (Provincial Police) said that this area has a high density of vehicles, both sides of the road are densely populated with houses and markets, but many car and motorbike drivers still speed, endangering themselves and others. Therefore, the working group is regularly present, using specialized professional equipment to detect and handle violations, reducing traffic accidents on the route.

In the first 6 months of the year, the provincial traffic police force detected and handled nearly 24,000 violations, including more than 5,500 speeding violations. Along with increased patrols and handling, the unit coordinated with functional agencies, districts, and cities to promote propaganda and raise awareness of traffic participants.

According to statistics, since the beginning of the year, the whole province has had 113 traffic accidents, killing 56 people and injuring 73 people, including 7 accidents caused by not complying with speed regulations. Many people living on Tran Quang Khai Street, Tho Xuong Ward (Bac Giang City) must not have forgotten the tragic accident that occurred when a motorbike was moving at high speed.

Accordingly, at about 2:27 p.m. on January 2, 2023, on Tran Quang Khai Street at the intersection with the branch road across Nam Hong Primary School, NAT (born 2006) in Group 6, Nham Bien Town (Yen Dung) was driving motorbike with license plate 98B2-113.24 and due to not being able to control the speed, collided with motorbike with license plate 98F6-5704 driven by Ms. PTQ (born 1965) in Cao Ky Van Street (Bac Giang City).

After that, T's motorbike continued to collide with a truck with license plate 98C-201.39 driven by Mr. NVT (born in 1987) from Xuan Huong commune (Lang Giang) parked in front. The accident happened very quickly, when people took T to the hospital for emergency treatment, it was too late, T died later.

Driving a vehicle at a speed exceeding the prescribed speed limit is one of the direct causes of accidents. When moving at high speed, the driver has difficulty observing obstacles on the road surface, and cannot predict sudden situations that may occur. If an unexpected situation occurs, the driver does not have enough time to come up with a safe solution... Therefore, patrolling and controlling to detect and promptly handle speeding violations is extremely necessary, limiting the occurrence of traffic accidents.

In the first 6 months of the year, the Traffic Police force detected and handled nearly 24,000 violations, of which more than 5,500 cases were handled for speeding violations. Lieutenant Colonel Ngo Quang Tuan, Head of the Traffic Police Department, informed that in the coming time, the Traffic Police force will continue to strengthen the handling of speeding violations and maintain regular and continuous implementation.

The unit arranges patrols and closed controls, mobilizes maximum means and technical equipment to carry out tasks, paying attention to the time frame and routes where violations often occur. In addition to patrolling and handling directly on the routes, the patrol teams also organize ambushes to record and fine cases of speeding to handle them with the spirit of "No forbidden zones, no exceptions".

Along with increased patrolling and handling, the unit coordinates with functional agencies, districts and cities to promote propaganda and raise awareness of traffic participants. During the implementation process, innovation in content and form of propaganda, dissemination and education of traffic laws in an easy-to-understand, easy-to-absorb direction, suitable for each region, locality, age, especially teenagers, students, etc. under the theme "Respecting the law to build a culture of safe traffic".
