Ensuring rights and enhancing responsibilities of militia forces

Gia Lai Provincial People's Council has just issued a Resolution on regimes and policies for militia and self-defense forces.

Accordingly, militiamen on duty will receive a subsidy of 327,600 VND/person/working day; village team leaders will receive a monthly allowance of 1,170,000 VND. This policy aims to encourage, motivate and promote the role of village team leaders and militia and self-defense forces in building a national defense, associated with a solid people's security posture right from the grassroots.

Along with the local militia, other subjects such as mobile militia, air defense militia, artillery, reconnaissance, information, engineering, chemical defense, and medical forces, when there is a decision to mobilize, assign to perform tasks or perform tasks according to a plan approved by a competent authority, are entitled to a daily labor allowance of VND 327,600/person/day; in case the term of performing the obligation to participate in the Militia and Self-Defense Forces is extended according to the decision of a competent authority, the additional allowance is VND 163,800/person/day.

In case the militia performs tasks of counter-terrorism, hostage rescue, crime suppression, dispersal of protests and riots; prevention and control of dangerous epidemics in areas at high risk of infection; rescue, search and rescue, fire fighting and disaster relief in areas dangerous to life according to the decision of the Commander of the local military agency at provincial level or higher, the daily labor allowance increases by VND 163,800/person/day.

Over the years, the village team leaders and militia forces have always upheld their sense of responsibility, strictly complied with regulations in force building, training and combat readiness to protect the locality. They are also the shock force, closely coordinating with the police and other forces in maintaining political security, social order and safety; contributing to building a strong political base, promoting economic development. Not only that, this force is also at the forefront in supporting people to overcome the consequences of natural disasters, epidemics, participating in rescue, etc., leaving many beautiful images in the hearts of the people. These silent contributions have affirmed the core role of the militia force in the cause of building and firmly protecting the Fatherland in the new situation.

The issuance of this policy aims to ensure consistency in the implementation of regimes and policies for the militia and self-defense forces in the province; ensure rights, timely encouragement and motivation for the militia and self-defense forces, contribute to improving the quality of training, combat readiness and participation in maintaining security and order at the grassroots level.

Gia Lai province currently has more than 43,000 people participating in the militia and self-defense force.
