Storm No. 10: Thanh Hoa Electricity quickly handles incidents and restores power soon

Due to the impact of storm No. 10, from the afternoon of September 28 to the noon of September 29, Thanh Hoa province experienced prolonged heavy rains accompanied by strong winds, causing flooding, landslides and severe damage to houses, crops as well as traffic infrastructure in many localities. Particularly in the electricity sector, the storms and rains caused severe damage, disrupting power supply over a large area.

According to initial statistics of Thanh Hoa Electricity Company, the storm caused 6/45 110kV transformer stations and 13/72 110kV lines to fail; the medium voltage grid recorded 155/264 lines affected. More than 6,500 load transformer stations lost power (accounting for 66.31%), affecting 768,731 customers, equivalent to 64.36% of the total number of customers in the province.

Particularly in Hoang Phu and Hoang Giang communes, storm No. 10 has broken 28 poles, damaged 2 transformers, broken more than 500m of wires and many electrical equipment. In the face of the damage caused by natural disasters, Mr. Hoang Hai, Director of Thanh Hoa Electricity Company, requested the Hoang Hoa area Electricity Management Team to focus on quickly handling the incident points, ensuring both early power restoration and maintaining safety principles.

As soon as the weather permitted, Thanh Hoa Power Company workers approached the scene and deployed solutions to each incident point. The working groups were assigned specific tasks and timelines, and had to regularly report progress to the Command Board.

Also on September 29, Deputy General Director of the Northern Power Corporation Phan Tu Luong and the working delegation inspected the response and damage recovery work caused by storm No. 10 in Thanh Hoa.

Present at the scene, Deputy General Director of the Northern Power Corporation Phan Tu Luong requested to put human safety first, strictly comply with operating procedures and electrical safety regulations when handling incidents in dangerous weather conditions. At the same time, he directed Thanh Hoa Power Company to urgently activate the mechanism to mobilize human resources and equipment; in case the local force cannot respond, it must proactively request inter-provincial support to shorten the time to restore power.
