Protect the “green zone”

(Baothanhhoa.vn) - Information about fake drugs and fake foods is increasing. The problem of counterfeit goods in these extremely essential areas is not only found in traditional markets and private pharmacies, but has also attacked hospitals and supermarkets.

Evidence for that is the cases related to fake drugs, fake functional foods with large quantities recently broken up by the authorities. According to the announcement of the drug and food safety management agency, in the composition of some drugs, foods, functional foods discovered there are toxic ingredients, which are substances banned from circulation in life.

But sadly, as soon as this case was closed, the criminal organization sprouted again. Many localities were classified as “red zones” of unsafety, unable to control the pharmaceutical and food markets.

According to the report of the Provincial People's Committee at the recent working session with the Survey Delegation of the National Assembly's Committee on Culture and Society on the implementation of policies and laws on prevention and control of counterfeit drugs and fake food in Thanh Hoa province, from January 1, 2024 to June 30, 2025, through inspection and supervision, no counterfeit drug production facilities were detected in the province. Regarding pharmaceutical business establishments, 15 cases of buying and selling counterfeit drugs and drugs of unknown origin were detected. In the field of food safety management, the authorities did not detect any counterfeit food production facilities in the province. Regarding business establishments, 4 cases of buying and selling counterfeit food were detected.

In recent times, Thanh Hoa province has been fighting fiercely against the problem of fake drugs, food, and fake functional foods. However, with the complicated developments of the production and trade of fake drugs, food, and fake functional foods, the fight against counterfeit goods will be more difficult because the tricks and behaviors of the subjects are becoming more and more sophisticated and reckless.

To maintain the achievements, protecting the safe "green zone" for modern medicines, foods and functional foods is an extremely important task, more than ever requiring further raising awareness and responsibility from management agencies, local authorities to consumers to have appropriate measures to fight, implementing the spirit as requested by the head of the Government : resolutely declaring war on counterfeit goods, fighting regularly with the spirit of "every day is a peak", wiping out fake drugs and fake foods; each citizen is both a soldier in the fight against smuggling, trade fraud, counterfeit goods, infringement of intellectual property rights, and a smart consumer in the market.
