Initial information, on May 29, Tam Binh Ward Police discovered a suspect named Tam (35 years old) illegally possessing drugs and stealing property. Tam was arrested by the police and taken to the headquarters to give a statement.
At around 2:10 p.m., while the police were trying to get Tam’s statement, he said he wanted to go to the restroom and a police officer opened the cell door and took him there. When he returned from the restroom, Tam pushed the police officer and ran away from the ward police station, jumping on a local resident’s motorbike.
At this time, many Tam Binh Ward police officers coordinated with local people to chase and capture Tam about 10 meters from the ward police gate.
The suspect fled the police station.
The suspect has been handed over by Tam Binh Ward Police to Thu Duc City Police for further handling according to regulations.
