Calibration flight at Long Thanh Airport in September 2025

(DN) - On August 21, Mr. Nguyen Tien Viet, Deputy General Director of Vietnam Airports Corporation (ACV), said that it is expected that in September 2025, calibration flights will begin at Long Thanh International Airport.

The implementation of calibration flights at Long Thanh Airport is expected to be deployed from September 25, aiming to check the signal quality of navigation broadcasting equipment, evaluate flight methods using navigation signals from ground equipment periodically every year to regularly maintain accuracy, stability and safety when exploiting flight routes and flight methods using navigation signals from ground navigation stations.

In July and August 2025, Vietnam Air Traffic Management Corporation (VATM) coordinated with relevant units to organize flight inspection and evaluation flights to verify the ability to operate safely at Long Thanh Airport. These flights were conducted using specialized Beechcraft King Air 350ER aircraft, to evaluate the flyability, factors related to the design method, and to test the impact of signal interference on the accuracy and intensity of the navigation system used in the flight methods.

Long Thanh Airport has a total of 68 flight modes, including 27 departure modes (SID), 33 arrival modes (STAR) and 8 landing approach modes (IAP).

According to ACV, the first runway and landing package has basically completed the road section; the second runway is accelerating construction. The passenger terminal has completed the concrete structure, underground part and 4 floors; the central steel roof has reached the finishing height. The rough construction volume of the terminal has reached more than 95%, expected to be completed in August. It is expected that on December 19, 2025, the first technical flight taking off from Noi Bai Airport ( Hanoi Capital) will land on the runway of Long Thanh Airport.
