To proactively prevent, promptly detect, stop, combat and handle violations and crimes related to smuggling and illegal transportation of goods and currency across the border and sea areas of the province on the occasion of the Lunar New Year 2025, the provincial Border Guard force has strengthened patrol and control work, synchronously deployed professional measures, and resolutely prevented the formation of hot spots.
According to statistics of the Provincial Border Guard, from the beginning of 2024 up to now, the unit has successfully organized 2 special projects, 8 professional plans; arrested and handled 249 cases/368 violators in the fields of drugs, immigration, trading, transporting goods, exploiting aquatic products...
Recently, on November 30, 2024, the Tra Co Border Guard Station Patrol Team coordinated with Team 3 (Northern Drug and Crime Prevention Task Force, Border Guard Drug and Crime Prevention Department), while performing their duties in the Bac Luan River estuary (Mong Cai City), they discovered and arrested two unlicensed wooden rafts transporting 1,200 laughing gas cylinders (Un1070 E942 Nitrous Oxide Foodgrande), weighing approximately 6,720 kg. At the time of arrest, the two subjects H (born in 1981) and T (born in 1976, both residing in Dong Hung town, China) were the drivers and owners of the vehicles, and could not present any documents related to the people, vehicles, or goods above.
Previously, on November 12, 2024, the Bac Luan International Border Guard Station (Mong Cai International Border Guard Station) inspected, discovered, and detained Hu Zhiqiang, who was carrying 50,000 NDT when completing exit procedures to China but did not declare to Vietnam Customs, for investigation, verification, and handling according to regulations.
Faced with the complicated developments of various types of crimes on the two borders of the province during the Lunar New Year 2025, closely following the directives of superiors and the province, the Provincial Border Guard Command proactively developed and implemented Plan No. 4476/KH-BCH, dated November 9, 2024 on launching a peak period of attacking and suppressing crimes, preventing smuggling activities and illegal transportation of goods across the border. In particular, focusing on patrolling and closing the border, especially places with openings and river crossings. At the same time, propagandizing and mobilizing people not to participate, assist and proactively denounce crimes.
The border guard force has strengthened coordination with other functional forces to effectively combat smuggling and trade fraud in border areas; thereby promptly detecting new methods and tricks of the subjects, proactively proposing solutions to improve the effectiveness of the fight. At the same time, coordinate with the Chinese border guard force to exchange and share information to prevent and handle remote activities, not allowing subjects to gather and transport smuggled and prohibited goods across the border, resolutely not allowing the formation of hot spots of smuggling and illegal transportation of goods across the border.
After nearly two months of deployment, units in the provincial Border Guard discovered and arrested 22 cases, 28 subjects, seized 21,163 grams of various drugs, 18 kg of firecrackers, 50,000 yuan, 2,400 ducklings, 1,680 kg of frozen animal organs (pig intestines, pig brains), 1,656 kg of animal products (sausages, Chinese sausages...), 3,792 kg of laughing gas ( N2O ). Of which, 2 lines and 6 subjects organizing illegal entry and exit were dismantled; administrative violations were fined 473 million VND, goods worth nearly 840 million VND.
Colonel Nguyen Van Thiem, Commander of the Provincial Border Guard, said: Determining the fight against all types of crimes on the border lines, sea areas and islands of the province before, during and after the Lunar New Year is a key task. In the coming time, the unit will continue to thoroughly grasp and seriously implement the contents of directives, plans, directives and instructions from superiors and the province in the fight against crimes; regularly lead and direct units to do a good job of patrolling and controlling on the border lines. Thereby, continuing to effectively fight against all types of crimes, especially crimes of domestic violence and illegal transportation of goods across the border areas, sea areas and islands of the province.
