Emergency patients with blood alcohol levels of 10-15%

The number of emergency cases due to traffic accidents during the September 2nd holiday this year is equivalent to the 2023 holiday. Notably, the percentage of patients with blood alcohol concentration is from 10-15%.

On the afternoon of September 3, a representative of Viet Duc Hospital said that during the 4-day holiday, the hospital received about 150 emergency cases each day, of which 50% were due to traffic accidents. Most of the emergency patients were in serious condition, with multiple injuries, and were transferred from other hospitals.

According to Dr. Bui Trung Nghia, Head of the emergency team on September 3, the number of emergency cases in general and emergency cases due to traffic accidents during the September 2 holiday this year is equivalent to the 2023 holiday. However, worryingly, the rate of emergency patients admitted to the hospital with blood alcohol concentration is about 10-15%.

According to doctors, in cases of accidents with alcohol concentration in the body, depending on the level, there will be certain effects on perception, making it difficult to exploit the medical history. There are patients who are stimulated but it is not yet determined whether it is due to alcohol or traumatic brain injury, which affects the initial diagnosis and treatment.

A representative of Viet Duc Hospital also said that during the holiday, the hospital has arranged staff on duty 24/7, with an emergency team of more than 30 doctors from various specialties, ensuring emergency response and immediate treatment for patients, avoiding overload.
