Can Tho Party Secretary appointed as Permanent Deputy Minister of Home Affairs

(Chinhphu.vn) - Mr. Do Thanh Binh, Secretary of the Can Tho City Party Committee for the 2020-2025 term, was assigned by the Politburo to hold the position of Deputy Head of the Central Organization Commission and Permanent Deputy Minister of Home Affairs.

The information was announced by National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man at the first Congress of Can Tho City Party Committee, term 2025-2030, on September 27.

According to National Assembly Chairman Man, in order to strengthen the staff of the Southwest region for the Central agencies and prepare for the 14th Party Congress, the Politburo decided to let Mr. Do Thanh Binh stop participating in the Executive Committee, the Standing Committee, stop holding the position of Secretary of the Can Tho City Party Committee for the 2025-2030 term and transfer, assign, and appoint him to the position of Deputy Head of the Central Organization Committee, Permanent Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Home Affairs .

Mr. Do Thanh Binh will continue to manage and direct the entire Congress of Can Tho City Party Committee for the 2025-2030 term (September 26-28).

Mr. Do Thanh Binh was born in 1967, from Ca Mau province, with a master's degree in economics. He is a member of the 13th Party Central Committee and a delegate of the 15th National Assembly.

Mr. Binh grew up from the grassroots, holding many positions in Kien Giang (old) such as: Secretary of the District Youth Union, Chairman of the District People's Committee, Secretary of the Vinh Thuan District Party Committee; Head of the Provincial Party Committee's Organization Board, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee.

In January 2025, Mr. Do Thanh Binh was assigned by the Politburo to hold the position of Secretary of the Can Tho City Party Committee for the 2020-2025 term.

After Can Tho City merged with Hau Giang and Soc Trang provinces, Mr. Do Thanh Binh was appointed by the Politburo and the Secretariat to hold the position of Secretary of the Can Tho City Party Committee (new).

Currently, the Ministry of Home Affairs has 7 Deputy Ministers assisting Minister Pham Thi Thanh Tra, including: Vu Chien Thang, Truong Hai Long, Cao Huy, Nguyen Thi Ha, Nguyen Van Hoi, Nguyen Manh Khuong and Do Thanh Binh.
