On Tuesday night, the Man Utd board held a 7-hour meeting to find a way to 'save' Man Utd from the worst defeat in Premier League history. The meeting was attended by chairman Jim Ratcliffe, Joel Glazer, director Omar Berrada, sporting director Dan Ashworth, director Jason Wilcox and Dave Brailsford.
Man Utd's most powerful figures will vote to decide the future of coach Erik Ten Hag. The Times said Man Utd often publicly decided to fire the coach right after these types of emergency meetings.
However, the club has not made any official announcement since Tuesday evening. The prestigious British newspaper speculates that Ten Hag will remain as Man Utd's head coach until after the FIFA Days, when they will host Brentford at Old Trafford.

On Friday, chairman Ratcliffe insisted he had no right to sack coach Ten Hag. It had to be a unanimous decision by the board. "I like Erik (Ten Hag). I think he's a good coach, but the decision is not mine. The reality is that Omar, Dan Ashworth, the director, has only been here since July. They have to make the right decisions about Ten Hag.
"Our objective is very clear. We want to bring Man Utd back to its original position. Unfortunately, the team has not done this. This is the truth," Mr. Ratcliffe told the BBC.
Erik Ten Hag's future is expected to be clarified today.
Commenting on the results of the vote, former Man Utd player Gary Neville said that Ten Hag's chances of staying are quite high: "They won't touch Ten Hag this season. No team wants to fire a coach in the middle of the season.
This is an action that has a negative impact on the coach and the team. The people in charge of sports with Ten Hag like Omar, Dan Ashworth have only been here for 2 months. Can't blame them. Improving Man Utd is a process that can last from 2 to 3 years."
Mr. Neville commented that firing Ten Hag will affect Man Utd's reputation.
Mr. Neville also warned coach Ten Hag about the prospect of leaving the team right before the winter transfer window: "The team needs to change immediately in the coming weeks. After the national team training session, if Man Utd continues to stagnate in 13th or 14th place, I think Ten Hag will feel the pressure in the most obvious way.
They have to do everything they can to get back on track. Otherwise, Ten Hag will lose his job. I don't think any fan wants to see Ten Hag leave the club. Man Utd have been in this vicious cycle for a decade now."
Ten Hag is currently taking a break as European leagues give way to FIFA Days. After last weekend's draw with Aston Villa, coach Ten Hag said: "They will tell me straight away if they want to change the manager. We are very open and clear. I speak to the board every day, every week."
Man Utd are currently 14th in the Premier League table with 8 points after 7 matches. This is Man Utd's worst start in Premier League history. The previous record also belonged to Ten Hag, with 9 points after 7 matches in the 2023-24 season.
