(Dan Tri) - The Ministry of Health requires units under the Ministry of Health located in areas affected by storms and floods to be ready to provide professional support, increase staff, and receive seriously ill patients transferred from lower levels.

The Ministry of Health has just issued a dispatch on focusing on overcoming the consequences of storm No. 10 and responding to floods after the storm.

Accordingly, on the morning of September 29, storm No. 10 made landfall in Nghe An and Ha Tinh provinces with strong gusts of wind and heavy rain, causing serious damage.

According to the forecast of the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, the circulation of storm No. 10 will continue to cause heavy rain until the end of September 30 in the North Central and Northern regions, especially from Thanh Hoa to Hue and the provinces of Phu Tho, Son La, Lao Cai ...

There is a very high risk of flooding in low-lying areas, along rivers, streams, and coastal areas, especially flash floods, landslides in mountainous areas and the Northern Midlands and North Central regions.

The Ministry of Health requests the Departments of Health of the provinces and cities of Hue, Quang Tri, Ha Tinh, Nghe An, Thanh Hoa, Ninh Binh, Hung Yen, Phu Tho, Son La, Lao Cai, Tuyen Quang, Lai Chau, Dien Bien and the provinces affected by storm No. 10; units under and directly under the Ministry of Health in the Northern and Central regions to urgently implement the following contents.

Firstly, strictly implement the directives of the Prime Minister, the National Civil Defense Steering Committee and the Ministry of Health on proactively responding to and overcoming the consequences of storms and floods, ensuring the safety of people's lives and property.

Second, the Department of Health of provinces and cities in areas affected by storms and floods urgently directs medical facilities to be ready to admit, provide emergency aid, and promptly treat victims of storms and floods.

At the same time, there must be plans to mobilize human resources and means, promptly plan, order and purchase additional supplies, reserve, and ensure there are enough medicines, supplies, equipment, and spare hospital beds to avoid being passive in any situation.

Units need to ensure that regular medical examination and treatment are not interrupted; prioritize maintaining electricity, water systems, means of transport, and information technology systems serving medical examination and treatment. Have plans to prepare backup generators and additional human resources for the intensive care unit, locations using ventilators and other essential equipment.

The Ministry also noted that it is important to ensure medicine for treatment needs and to serve the prevention of epidemics that may arise during and after storms and floods; to avoid drug shortages and price increases; to strengthen monitoring, early detection and thorough treatment of cases of infectious diseases, and to prevent epidemics from breaking out after storms and floods.

Third, units under the Ministry of Health located in areas affected by storms and floods are ready to provide professional support, increase staff, receive seriously ill patients transferred from lower levels; prepare mobile forces for epidemic prevention, support epidemiological surveillance, environmental treatment and vaccination when required.

Fourth, units under the Ministry of Health, according to their functions and tasks, proactively coordinate and provide technical, professional and logistical support to localities.

Fifth, report on damage, medical examination and treatment, needs, local capacity and propose support when exceeding capacity, send to the Ministry of Health.
