(Dan Tri) - Four people from Phuoc Chanh commune, Phuoc Son district, Quang Nam province were returning from work when the floodwaters suddenly rose and they were stuck in the middle of the river since the afternoon of December 13. By the afternoon of December 14, the authorities had successfully rescued them.

On the afternoon of December 14, Mr. Ho Van Huy, Chairman of the People's Committee of Phuoc Chanh Commune, Phuoc Son District, said that local authorities had successfully rescued four people who had been isolated on a rocky island in the middle of the Dak Mi River since the afternoon of December 13.

According to initial information, on the morning of December 13, 4 people in a family including Ho Van Thung, Ho Minh Ha, Ho Van Ngo, Ho Van Kiem (residing in Phuoc Chanh commune, Phuoc Son district) went to work together on the farm along Nuoc Xe stream, near the Dak Mi 3 hydropower plant.

In the afternoon of the same day, when the family was on their way home, the floodwaters suddenly rose. The four of them had to stay on a rock in the middle of the river.

Upon receiving the news, on the morning of December 14, the People's Committee of Phuoc Son district sent police and military forces to coordinate with local forces of the commune to find rescue measures.

However, due to high and strong currents, rescue work encountered many difficulties.

While waiting for the water to recede and finding a way to rescue the victims, the rescue team threw ropes for 4 people on the other side to catch, then provided food and water, temporarily preventing the victims from going hungry or thirsty.

At 2:00 p.m. on December 14, authorities used cables and pulleys to bring four people safely to shore.
