Digital travel platform Agoda has recorded a significant increase in tourism interest between Vietnam and China, showing that tourism links between the two countries are increasingly flourishing after the launch of many new flight routes.

According to data, the number of searches for Vietnam from Chinese tourists in July and August 2025 increased by 90% compared to the same period in 2024. This growth momentum comes from the exploitation of new direct flights, connecting Hanoi with many destinations in China such as Ningbo, Chengdu, Shanghai and Xi'an, making travel more convenient.

With more flight options, Hanoi is in a prime position to attract Chinese tourists. Searches for Vietnam’s capital from the country increased by 89% compared to the same period last year. In addition, according to data from the General Statistics Office, China is now the largest market sending visitors to Vietnam in August 2025, accounting for a quarter of total international tourists.

On the other hand, Vietnamese tourists also showed increased demand when the number of searches for travel to China increased by 50% in the period from July to August 2025 compared to the same period in 2024.

Specifically, the number of searches to Ningbo increased by 77%, Chengdu increased by 20%, Shanghai increased by 68% and Xi'an increased by 130%, reflecting diverse travel needs from cultural experiences to exploring bustling urban areas or little-known destinations.

According to experts, Vietnam is increasingly attracting more Chinese tourists thanks to increased air connectivity, opening up opportunities for Chinese tourists to explore Vietnam's rich culture and landscapes, while also creating conditions for Vietnamese tourists to travel to China to experience tourism.
