On August 15, Kamala Harris' campaign team said that the Democratic candidate will debate her Republican opponent Donald Trump twice, while the two running mates will have only one debate.

AFP news agency quoted Ms. Harris's campaign team as saying: "Mr. Donald Trump's team has accepted our proposal for two presidential candidates and one vice presidential candidate."
"Let's say Donald Trump debates on September 10," Harris's team explained, "then JD Vance debates Harris' running mate Tim Walz on October 1. Then there will be another face-off between the two presidential candidates on a day in late October."
According to previous information, Mr. Trump and Ms. Harris will participate in the debate on September 10 on ABC News. This will be the first direct confrontation in the campaign, which is reflected by the very close opinion polls.
Meanwhile, on social network X, CBS News channel said that Minnesota Governor Tim Walz and Ohio Senator JD Vance have both agreed to participate in the vice presidential debate organized by the channel on October 1.
On August 14, in an interview with Fox News , Mr. Vance confirmed that he wanted to participate in the debate on October 1, but not in a "no-audience" way like what happened at the debate between Mr. Trump and President Joe Biden on June 27.
The US election is gradually becoming more intense as recent polls on voter support show that Ms. Harris is currently equal to or ahead of Mr. Trump in most battleground states, even though she has only officially replaced candidate Joe Biden for about half a month.
