GDXH - Từ Hy Viên had a history of epilepsy and had been hospitalized many times. When giving birth, she also had an epileptic seizure, suffered from lack of oxygen, and fell into a coma...

In recent days, the sudden passing of Từ Hy Viên due to complications from the flu has caused concern. According to Tiền phong, Từ Hy Viên began her trip to Japan on the 29th of the Lunar New Year. Before departure, her health showed signs of deterioration, but because she wanted to reunite with her family, she still decided to go. For 5 consecutive days, her health did not improve, until on February 2, her condition suddenly took a turn for the worse, and she eventually passed away.

The tour guide who accompanied the family revealed that on January 29, Barbie Hsu showed signs of coughing and hoarseness. That day, she and her family went to Hakone town (Kanagawa prefecture, Japan) to bathe in hot springs. From January 30 to 31, her health gradually worsened. On the night of the 31st, her condition became very serious, forcing her to be urgently hospitalized.

On February 1, her family continued to take her to a small clinic in Kyoto but could not get an accurate diagnosis. She was then transferred to a large hospital, where the doctor confirmed she had the flu. Although she was prescribed medication and returned to the hotel to rest, her health condition did not improve but quickly became critical. The tour guide immediately called an ambulance, but unfortunately, Hsu breathed her last at 7am on February 2.

Barbie Hsu had a history of epilepsy and had been hospitalized many times. When giving birth, she also had an epileptic seizure, suffered from lack of oxygen, fell into a coma, and even had a moment when her heart stopped beating and she stopped breathing, almost losing her life on the operating table.

How dangerous is epilepsy?

Epilepsy is a pathological condition of the brain, characterized by excessive and simultaneous discharge of nerve cells in the brain (can be localized or widespread), clinically manifested by sudden, temporary and repetitive seizures.

Epilepsy can be cured, but if left untreated, its complications can be extremely dangerous, even life-threatening.

For infants with epilepsy, the child is at risk of perinatal asphyxia, nervous system infections, congenital malformations, cerebral hemorrhage, hypocalcemia, hypoglycemia, and metabolic disorders.

For young children with epilepsy, they may face the consequences of brain damage.

Adolescents with epilepsy (especially absence epilepsy) are at risk of drowning while swimming, falling while climbing, and serious academic performance decline due to reduced ability to concentrate.

For adults, epilepsy is very dangerous if the patient has a relapse while driving or operating machinery at high altitudes… Such situations can be life-threatening.

For women and the elderly, epilepsy is a dangerous disease, seriously affecting daily life, work, and even motherhood.

Epilepsy not only affects health but also causes great psychological pressure. For many people with epilepsy, the negative attitude of the community has made them feel inferior, self-conscious and have difficulty integrating into life.

In epileptic patients, preventing seizure recurrence is extremely important to ensure normal functioning and daily activities of the patient, avoiding dangerous complications.

Measures to help reduce recurrent seizures include:

- Take medication as prescribed by your doctor : This is a preventative measure as well as an effective and most important treatment for epilepsy patients.

- Get enough sleep : Insomnia is considered a factor in triggering epileptic seizures. Therefore, epileptic patients need to get enough sleep and ensure quality sleep to prevent recurrence of epileptic seizures.

- Exercise : This is a measure to help patients improve their health and reduce anxiety about their condition.

- Establish a healthy diet: In addition to drug treatment, nutrition also plays an important role in the treatment and prevention of epilepsy. A reasonable diet with enough vitamins and minerals helps patients fight the disease better.

- Limit brain injuries : This can be a factor that triggers and aggravates the patient's epilepsy. Therefore, patients need to have protective measures when working and participating in traffic to avoid injuries, especially in the head, face and neck area.
