TPO – Planned to become one of the five largest fishing centers in the country, Tho Quang Fishing Port (Son Tra District, Da Nang ) is continuing to be invested in, upgraded, and built to become a type 1 fishing port.

The project will be implemented from the beginning of 2024, with the Da Nang Agricultural and Rural Development Construction Investment Project Management Board as the investor and operator, with an implementation period of 4 years.

The project consists of 2 packages. Package 10 constructs wharf items 1 and 2, repairs the southeast embankment of the boat lock, upgrades and renovations of the seafood trading area, and upgrades and repairs of internal traffic roads.

Package No. 11 constructs wastewater treatment projects, green landscape, lighting...

At the scene, workers and machinery continuously operate at the docks, seafood trading houses, etc.

It is known that this is a project to upgrade and renovate Tho Quang fishing port, which is more than 6 hectares wide, to meet the criteria of a type 1 fishing port combined with a regional storm shelter anchorage area and synchronized fishing logistics services.

Upon completion, it is expected that this fishing port will be able to accommodate 300 ships with a maximum capacity of 2,000 horsepower per day, with a cargo throughput of 100,000 tons per year. The total investment capital of the project is 250 billion VND.

Previously, the upgrading and expansion projects of Tho Quang Fishing Port (phase 1) were completed with a total investment of more than 217 billion VND, including the construction of covered wharf No. 2, a house connecting to the wholesale market, a seafood gathering and transportation area, etc.

Tho Quang seafood wholesale market is also being invested in and newly built with a scale of 3 floors, ensuring smooth business and trading activities. This is also one of 11 markets selected to develop tourist markets in Da Nang until 2030.

Recently, the People's Committee of Da Nang City issued Decision 2052 approving the investment policy of the Project to renovate and upgrade the drainage system and wastewater collection in the area around Tho Quang Wharf with a total investment of more than 65 billion VND. The project will be implemented from 2024 to 2026 to ensure a collection rate of 2.5Qtb to Son Tra Wastewater Treatment Plant, limiting wastewater discharged directly into Tho Quang Wharf, causing environmental pollution and affecting people's lives.

Tho Quang fishing port is the largest fishing port in the Central region with a storm shelter and Tho Quang seafood wholesale market that is always bustling and busy.

For many years, this place has also been an environmental “hot spot” in Da Nang. The City People’s Committee has devoted many resources and implemented many solutions to reduce pollution and raise awareness among fishermen and residents to solve this problem.

In parallel with the implementation of the second phase of the project, the activities of mooring boats, loading and unloading and trading seafood at Tho Quang Fishing Port still take place normally in the area of ​​Wharf No. 2. The Fishing Port Management Board also arranges an area for fishermen and traders to trade and exchange goods.

According to the Planning of the system of fishing ports and storm shelters for fishing vessels in the period 2021 - 2030, with a vision to 2050, the country has 5 major fishing centers associated with the fishing grounds of the Gulf of Tonkin, the East Sea and Hoang Sa, the South Central Coast and Truong Sa, the Southeast, and the Southwest. In particular, Tho Quang Fishing Port and Boat Dock are planned to invest in building a large fishing center in Da Nang.
