Since 2015, Ho Chi Minh City has implemented the project to expand Hoang Huu Nam Street - one of the main roads connecting to the new Eastern Bus Station. The upgraded road is 1.7 km long, from the bus station to the Hanoi Highway intersection, with a total investment of 402 billion VND.

The project had to be suspended since 2019 due to land acquisition issues and the impact of the pandemic. After restarting in May 2023, the project is now more than 60% complete because compensation and site clearance have not been completed.

In recent days, many houses along Hoang Huu Nam Street have been demolished by residents and moved further inside, waiting for the road expansion project to be implemented.

Hoang Huu Nam Street is one of the routes connecting to the new Eastern Bus Station. The road surface is only about 7m wide, and there is no median strip, so traffic accidents are very likely to occur.

A representative of the Thu Duc City Construction Investment Project Management Board (investor) said that to implement the Hoang Huu Nam road project, it is necessary to reclaim more than 47,550 square meters of land from 154 households.

Ms. Bach Thi Thanh Xuan (Long Binh ward, Thu Duc city) shared: "For many years now, this road has been narrow, degraded and dangerous because of many containers. When handing over the land, I just hope that it will be completed and expanded soon, to make the road more spacious."
