It is necessary to review the process, shorten procedures, and speed up the implementation of drainage projects in the Da Nang airport area.

DNO - On the afternoon of August 20, Permanent Vice Chairman of the Da Nang City People's Council Tran Phuoc Son chaired a working session with the Urban Committee of the City People's Council and related units to listen to a report on the progress of the drainage project in the Da Nang airport area.

According to the report of the Department of Construction, the drainage system in Da Nang city is not yet synchronized, so during the rainy season, some lower urban areas are often flooded. Areas that are frequently flooded include Ham Nghi Street, Ha Huy Tap Street, the end of Trung Nu Vuong Street... in the city center. The reason is partly because water from Da Nang airport drains quickly into the central area.

Currently, the City People's Committee agrees with the proposal of the Department of Construction on the proposed contents and expected progress of investment preparation for 21 drainage and flood prevention projects in the city; including the project to renovate regulating lakes and build a drainage system in the Da Nang airport area.

It is expected that there will be 5 sluice gates to regulate and retain water in the airport lake areas in a slow drainage direction, limiting flooding in the airport area, affecting people's lives.

According to the representative of the Urban Committee of the City People's Council, the investment and dredging of the regulating lakes in the airport due to the lack of timely coordination and consultation with relevant units, the progress of implementation is too slow. The immediate solution to limit flooding during the rainy season is to separate the implementation of 5 sluice gates to regulate the amount of water draining from the airport to residential areas into a separate project to be done first.

Concluding the working session, Permanent Vice Chairman of the City People's Council Tran Phuoc Son agreed with the proposal of the Urban Committee to issue a document requesting the City People's Committee to soon deploy 5 gates; requesting relevant departments, branches and sectors to study, advise and propose to the City People's Committee to implement the process and procedures in the shortest way so that the project can be deployed soon.

Regarding the handling of flooding in the area outside the airport, the city is implementing many projects at the same time. The City People's Committee is requested to direct units to speed up the implementation progress. Regarding the drainage system in the airport area, in the coming time, relevant units will conduct a field survey and work with relevant units to agree on the implementation plan.

* On the same afternoon, Permanent Vice Chairman of the City People's Council Tran Phuoc Son chaired a working session with relevant units to listen to reports on information and feedback from voters and the press on the handling of wastewater discharge into estuaries along the My An - My Khe beach area, in An Hai ward and Ngu Hanh Son ward.

According to the Department of Construction, this area has 3 drainage treatment packages to connect the wastewater drainage system and collect and bring it to the wastewater treatment plant.

Currently, the construction and connection of the wastewater collection system in the My An - My Khe area has been completed. However, the wastewater collection system and its operation still have some shortcomings, along with some other reasons that lead to the situation of wastewater being discharged into the sea through the outlet during the first rain.

Concluding this content, the Standing Vice Chairman of the City People's Council requested relevant functional units to strengthen the inspection of wastewater connections of households, production and service establishments in the area.

The City People's Committee and relevant agencies and localities need to coordinate with relevant units to ensure dredging of sewers, limit the accumulation of waste; at the same time, develop a plan to handle situations of rising rainwater, reducing the situation of wastewater overflowing into the sea.
