On September 10, CBRE Vietnam Co., Ltd. (CBRE) officially spoke out about the information that Ms. Do Thi Loan - Vice President of Ho Chi Minh City Real Estate Association (HoREA), owner of apartment V5-1002 at Sunrise City South apartment building, Tan Hung ward, Ho Chi Minh City - had her water supply cut off for 8 months.

In response, CBRE affirmed that as the building management unit, the company did not commit any fraudulent acts in recording water meters or calculating water bills for residents, including Ms. Loan’s house. All water bills were collected and paid through the building’s own account and paid directly to Nha Be Water Supply Company.

Mrs. Do Thi Loan's family had to bring water in plastic cans to use during the water shortage.

According to CBRE, each apartment has its own water meter. The management board reads the index every month to calculate according to the current price. In case the resident is late in payment for 3 months or more, the management board will stop supplying water according to the building's internal regulations. Ms. Loan's water was cut off from January 7, 2025 due to unpaid water fees for the last 3 months of 2024 with a total amount of more than 1 million VND.

This water supply interruption is in accordance with the provisions of Clause 3.5.5, Article 3 of the Building Regulations.

Regarding Ms. Loan being prevented from transporting water in a bucket into the elevator, CBRE said that the building management was forced to prevent Ms. Loan "because in the past, there was an incident that caused water to overflow in Tower V2 of the building, causing damage to the elevator, interrupting the elevator's operation, greatly affecting the operation and movement of other residents."

The building management office then asked Ms. Loan to temporarily stop transporting water through the lobby to the elevator using buckets and barrels, and requested that there be a safety plan to avoid risks arising during the process of transporting water to the apartment, affecting the building and other residents.

CBRE also confirmed that it had explained and proposed solutions many times, but Ms. Loan did not agree.

Nguoi Lao Dong Newspaper will continue to inform after receiving feedback from Ms. Do Thi Loan.
