The Provincial People's Committee also requested the Project Management Board to strengthen coordination with local authorities and the Provincial People's Committee (through the Department of Construction) to promptly handle and resolve difficulties and problems arising during the construction process; develop a detailed construction plan for the remaining volume, ensuring the completion of the project in December this year. National Highway 28B continues to receive special attention, because recently, the construction progress of the project has been widely reported by public opinion and the press, when there is a risk of missing the completion date and putting it into use as originally planned.
It can be said that after the merger of the three provinces of Lam Dong, Binh Thuan , and Dak Nong, the new Lam Dong province is considered to have a special resonance for breakthrough socio-economic development, with many potentials and advantages in industrial economy, tourism, agriculture, and marine economy. But one of the barriers to connecting the three old provinces that everyone can see today is traffic infrastructure. Currently, in addition to the two expressways Vinh Hao - Phan Thiet, Phan Thiet - Dau Giay, and National Highway 1A, which are considered the "backbone" in the East of the new Lam Dong province, National Highway 20 is the North - South bridge connecting the development of the administrative center of Da Lat. However, National Highway 20 is currently overloaded in terms of traffic volume and speed limits, which has greatly affected development, and we have to wait for the Tan Phu - Bao Loc expressway and the Bao Loc - Lien Khuong expressway. In the West, we have to wait for the Chon Thanh - Gia Nghia expressway. In particular, the "rib" traffic axis connecting the East - West from Phan Thiet to Da Lat through Gia Nghia on National Highway 28, 28B is currently considered too old, making it very difficult for people to travel. Therefore, the upgrading and expansion of National Highway 28B, which is currently being urgently constructed, is considered a temporary but extremely urgent solution for the East - West traffic axis.
However, recently, what makes people traveling on National Highway 28B, as well as through the press, is that almost everyone is worried, mixed with disappointment when thinking about the progress. In addition to objective reasons, the Vietnam Road Administration and provincial leaders also pointed out that the Project Management Board and the supervision consultant have not directed and operated resolutely. In addition, the contractors have not actively constructed, mobilized human resources, materials, and equipment are not adequate...
Sharing with the press, the provincial leaders also said that the locality will actively coordinate to speed up the progress to complete the route according to the plan. Thereby, contributing to serving the transportation needs of the people and tourists , especially in the coming time, Lien Khuong airport will temporarily stop operating to carry out the upgrade (expected in March 2026), because this is the shortest route from Ho Chi Minh City to the provincial center.
Remembering the directive speech at the working session with the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committees of the three provinces of Binh Thuan, Lam Dong, and Dak Nong before the merger, General Secretary To Lam emphasized the importance of transport infrastructure in socio-economic development and ensuring national defense and security after the formation of the new Lam Dong province. The General Secretary requested to speed up expressway projects, especially the Nha Trang - Lien Khuong route and the route connecting Dak Nong - Lam Dong - Binh Thuan before 2030.
Perhaps while waiting for these highways, urgently speeding up the construction progress of National Highway 28B, ensuring the right schedule, is the solution to meet expectations, otherwise it will be... a mistake to the people.
