Having graduated from the People's Police Academy and worked in this field for 2 years, what made you switch to the arts?

I changed my career because I have a great passion for art. That passion has always been in my mind since I was a child until now.

How did you convince your family to switch to singing at first?

Police is a very sacred job for Dat. I tried very hard to study hard to pass the exam and graduate from the People's Police Academy, and got a very good job at the provincial police. When deciding to change career, I had to spend a lot of time thinking, convincing my parents and discovering myself.

Currently my family still doesn't really support me because my work hasn't had many breakthroughs and stability.

Many young people are curious about Dat's nickname, can you "reveal" a little?

Dat loves and admires actress Lindsay Lohan so much that he has chosen the "nickname" Dat Lohan on social networks since college until now.

From police to singer, what was your biggest difficulty?

Dat found it difficult because he came to Ho Chi Minh City alone to start a career. At first, Dat did not know anyone in the arts, and could only look for opportunities by acting as extras in movies, TV commercials, etc. Besides, Dat started his art during the outbreak of the Covid-19 epidemic and lasted for 2 years of work, his opportunities were greatly delayed.

In 2016 and 2017, Dat auditioned twice for a very famous music entertainment company but failed. The judges told me to wait for the results and did not comment on anything. After being eliminated, I posted my cover songs (singing original songs in my own style) on a social networking application specializing in singing, from which I received comments and suggestions from strangers and realized what I was lacking. After 3 years, my skills improved and for the first time I had the opportunity to appear as a singer with the band For7.

Dat had to struggle with himself and convince his family to let him pursue his passion for music.

After many years pursuing art, have you ever regretted choosing this path?

Dat has been pursuing the art field for 3 years and has never regretted the path he has chosen. There were times when Dat felt pressured and wanted to give up because he had to make ends meet, but when he thought about the reason he started, Dat regained his spirit and tried harder. Besides, receiving a lot of help from friends around him gave Dat a lot of positive energy to pursue art to the end.

Before coming to Vietnam idol 2023, you shared that you once played a supporting role in My Tam's MV. What experiences did those times give you?

Playing extra roles like that is an opportunity for me to meet my idols, learn how artists work professionally, and sometimes receive advice and guidance from other artists, directors, and producers.

How did you feel when you received the golden ticket when you thought you had no chance left? What will you do to win over the judges in the next round?

I feel overwhelmed, happy and grateful that the judges and organizers have trusted me and given me another chance to perform and win over the audience. That is also a motivation to remind me to try harder. In the next round, I will practice a lot, stay calm, relax and focus on expressing my emotions in the song to win over the judges and the audience once again.

To keep in shape and have a good voice, what is your daily workout routine?

Dat attends vocal classes 1-2 times a month, and practices at home whenever he has free time. Dat goes to the gym 1-2 hours a day to maintain his appearance. Dat does not have a fixed diet, however, sugar, oil and cold water are 3 things Dat will not use in his daily meals. In addition, chicken breast smoothies are always Dat's side meal.
