Feather grass, or pink grass, is in full bloom in Gia Lai. In the pine forest area of Glar commune, Dak Doa district, the already poetic landscape this season is further enhanced by the brilliant colors of the grass, making the scene even more beautiful.
Because of its yellow-brown color and slightly pink when exposed to sunlight, many local people call this grass by its color and named the hill pink grass hill.
The blooming season of this grass only occurs once a year from October to December every year. Right at the time of blooming, tourists from all over flock to admire this brilliant scene.
The two most popular times for tourists are morning dawn and afternoon dusk. At this stage of the day the color of the grass will change according to the sunlight and the angle and aperture of the camera lens.
For example, in the early cold morning, looking through the camera lens, the grass is snow white, blooming and covered with morning dew, extremely unique.
By late afternoon, also through the camera lens, the grass turned pink, then yellow, then brown as the sun gradually set.
Living in Pleiku city, Nguyen Tuong Vy (24 years old) does not miss the pink grass season every time this time. Vy has a TikTok channel and often looks for places with beautiful scenery to check-in and introduce to the channel's viewers about beautiful local places.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Thu Trang and Mr. Nguyen Dang Trong (residing in Pleiku city) came to the pink grass hill to give their two sons Voi and Gau a place to exercise and play.
"When brought to natural places, Elephant and Bear love it very much, running and jumping nonstop. It takes a lot of effort to keep them in check," Trang shared with a smile.
Besides pink grass hills, what other attractive destinations are there in Gia Lai?
When coming to Gia Lai, in addition to the pink grass hill, visitors can refer to other tourist destinations such as: Chu Dang Ya Volcano: This is a volcano that has been inactive for millions of years, located about 20km from the center of Pleiku city. This place has majestic natural scenery, especially in the wild sunflower season (October, November) when all the mountains and valleys light up yellow. Bien Ho: This is a natural freshwater lake, located at an altitude of 800m above sea level, with an area of about 230ha. Bien Ho is surrounded by green pine forests and mountains, creating a poetic and cool scene. Hang En Waterfall: This is a beautiful and pristine waterfall, located in the Kon Chu Rang conservation area, about 160km from Pleiku city. Hang En Waterfall is about 50m high, the water flows strongly from above, creating a majestic and spectacular scene. Duc An Church: This is a unique and famous architectural work in Gia Lai, located in Dien Hong ward, Pleiku city with pointed roofs, crescent-shaped windows and white stone walls.
